Ya I just picked it up the other day. I deleted the F-117 right off the bat but I have been enjoying the F-18D playing with the new nimitz carrier.

I also deleted the F-117. I have a feeling that a lot of folks do. It's a bit off-putting to look out of the VC and see the blue wings of the Blue Angels F-18. :isadizzy:

It is very good value, great to have the ability to choose your weapons.

Yes - it was a shame that the excellent Aerosoft F-16 could not do that.

I bought this yesterday too. Some notes on "what needs fixed":

There's an .air file mod on the FSX Blue Angels site for the Acceleration Hornet. It mimics the effect of the real FBW system to counteract the lift generated by the airbrake: see http://fsxblueangels.com/downloads.html and http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=1470.0. Has anyone done this for the Xload .air file?
Two comments here on the milky/oily color of the canopy: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showpost.php?p=205845&postcount=11. Looking at BB's repaint files, I don't see one file that's targeted for the canopy, so probably no global fix for this one.
This fifx makes the HUD transparent; apply it in the Acceleration folder, not Xload: http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=131668 (http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=131668) (same as fa18hudm.zip (http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=131668)).
The Xload launch bar fits loosely onto the catapult shuttle. (See screenshot.) Result: if you apply too much power (how much, exactly?), the Hornet will roll forward, and you'll be moving off the deck under your own steam, not the catapult's. Some comments on this here, but no fix that I know of: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=895.0.
Maybe the F-117 is not woth saving. But it's one, maybe two texture files in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\FA-18\Texture folder that's producing the blue wingtips and fuselage in the VC. How it might be fixed: (a) identify the file or files, (b) copy it/them to your CS_FA-18D texture folder, (c) working on this copy, not the original, recolor the offending parts the same shade of black as the exterior textures. (d) Might need to copy the resulting file(s) to any repaint texture folders as well. Again, might be more work than this model merits.

Thank you for recommending this on the other thread, about landing the Acceleration Hornet on a carrier: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=19457. After installing the CS Hornet, I continued to struggle for a few hours, mostly with staying on the glide scope, but by night's end I was starting to score some successful traps. We'll see how much of that my eyes and hands remember later today!
