I lost my copy of FSX (or it was stolen... I'll never know) but I DID upgrade my PC. So, i'm gonna go out and spend 30 bucks buying annother copy of FSX deluxe (my own birthday present :3). How do you guys think FSX will run on this setup? AMD Phenom 2 X4 940 Quad core @ 3.0 Ghz (OC to 3.5), BFG Nvidia 9600 GT OC2 512 Mb, 3 Gb of RAM, 1 Tb WD HDD.?

Not sure! But you let us know how the Phenom 2 chip does...

I'd recommend that you pick up a copy of FSX Gold........it has both FSX Deluxe and the Acceleration addon bundled together.
As far as your systems specs go.......the cpu should be well up to the job. Ideally you should consider a minimum of 4GB of good, fast ram (especially if you're running vista) and your GFX card could be a bottleneck too. :)

Your specs are not bad...It can be tweaked..

What OS are you using?

Only thing I see off the bat about your specs is ram...You can boost it from 3 to 4 gigs and it may help with things in general...Its enough..But Vista will use all that you give it ...FSX will only use so much...

9600GT 128 bit graphics card is deal killer-bandwidth would be affected. It will work but it won't be ideal. Harleyman is right about the RAM with Vista...can you say memory hog?

256?? Then you are good to go..:applause:

I stand corrected I think Nvidia had a 9500 GT once that was a pile of junk when it came to FSX and some other games. Anyway I love the AMD Phenom II 940-excellent processor for FSX and had zero problems with it-make sure to get a really good CPU heatsink

Your setup is similar to mine and should be good to go. Please follow Ted's heat sink advice. I replaced mine and no longer have heating issues. And i think you could go FSX gold. i know up here in Green Bay its been running around 30.00 a copy at Best Buy, Wal Mart. The gold version will save you a few headaches in the install procedure. Also Try Windows 7 64 ultimate it really cooks with Athlon and nvidia with FSX.

Ted I have heard of people overclocking the 940 to up to 4.0 GHZ! and still run it under 45-50 C under full load! (with the stock fan.. odd, I got mine to 3.5 Ghz and it's fine, still at 30 C)
