Just what I needed to brighten my day!:jump:

any one have a good replacement 2D panel for this plane?:d The one that came with it is nice, but I wish I had grabbed the real battle panel for the Ki-45. Now the sits is gone.

Also I think the air file needs a little tweaking. The rudder authority of this plane is a little much. I roll the entire plane along it's longitudinal axis just by pressing and holding full rudder, no correction needed with either aileron or elevator. Also This big fighter like to go up to 323kts. I've done some poking around and the max this fighter should be topping out is at 292kts straight and level.

Here she is flying in defense of the homeland in the vicinity of Kobe. That's the new MZ Tonan Maru she's flying over.

I am wondering, what exact variant of the Ki-45 Kai do we have? Is the forward armament 1 13mm machine gun and 1 20mm cannon, or 1 20mm cannon and 1 37mm cannon?

I'm lovin this bird!

oldwheat

It must be a KAIb as the 'a' had 2 MGs
in the nose.

Wulf190

so we have the version with hte 20mm in the nose and the 37mm in the belly?

I'd like the "A" type.:d

Now that I've been flying the new Ki 45 for a bit, I've noticed a few things that may or may not need a tweak.

1. Nose down attitude. I've been able to remedy this to some extent by reducing the lift scalar in the [flight tuning] section of the aircraft.cfg file. While not fully corrected it's an improvement.

[flight_tuning]
;cruise_lift_scalar = 1.0 <<--original setting
cruise_lift_scalar = 0.4

2. Flight performance. I substituted the VB Ki 45 air file to correct what I felt to be a mushy feel and an inability to maintain directional stability. Air speeds seem to be about right at various altitudes and throttle settings and it feels a bit more sober.

3. VC weapons zero. I made the following eddit to the aircraft.cfg file to get the bullet stream up into the center of the VC sight reticle.

[Views]
;eyepoint=1.43,0.0,3.02 <<-- Original setting
eyepoint=1.43,0.0,2.9925

I've still got to work on the rear view for the gunner and to also adjust his 7.7mm rear machine gun to the center of the screen as well as the departure point for the bullets and the muzzle flash.

Howdy Gents;

Just stopped in for a look-see and saw this thread. What we have here is the KI-45-Hei. Translated KI-45A1c. It was developed for Bomber Slaying.

Unlike the Otsu (KI-45A1b) where the 37mm Type 98 (A Hand Fed Tank Cannon) was in the ventral position the Hei had a Ho-203 semi-auto 37mm in the nose and the smaller 20mm Ho-3 was in the ventral position. All you would have to do to convert her to an Otsu is a little DP work.

I've been messing with it a bit and as a player A/C she's beautiful. I have noticed the airfile problems everyone else has but its not a big deal. The real problem is if you use them for AI's in any type of Ground/Shipping attack. They won't do it. In fact they're lucky if they can even attempt an attack run every 5 minutes! LOL. I haven't tried her as an AI Bomber Killer, Yet.

On the up side it's a super model and FPS freindly, and she's the right size! Everything else can be moded or replaced.

Thank You Akemi San!

You could even conceivably model a Ko variation (With incorrect engines:costumes:) but hopefully Akemi will do 3 variants as he did with the Ki-61.

Akemi had updated his Ki-45KAI C. I really do hope he makes a KAI A and B!

The updated model has a greatly improved flight model and the in flight attitude seems to be improved also. The free spinning props are also fixed so that they are stationary until you crank up the engines.

She's coming together nicely.

I like the changes too! Just make sure to suck up the gear when your off, the landing gear really down changes a lot how she handles (which I think I normal).

when you say we have a KI-45A1c is that the same as Ki-45 KAIc?

Oh yeah maybe its just me and my bad shooting but does anybody notice that the tracers don't really exactly meet with the bullets. i mean im right behind the guy pouring rounds into him but nothing happens. ima go check again. like i said maybe its just me

To the honest I'm still not totally sure of the Ki-45 KAI we have...

Now let me know if I'm wrong here. The "A" type was a heavy fighter. Had a forward armament of two .50 machine guns, and one 20mm cannon. The cannon was mounted in the belly of the ship. For defense there was a rear gunner with a single .30 cal machine gun.

The "B" type was a anti-shipping ground attack ship. The armament changed with a 20m cannon replacing both machine guns in the nose and a hand fed 37mm cannon in the belly. The rear gunner stayed the same. (I guess this is the one we have?)

The "C" type was a Night Fighter, anti-bomber ship. The 37mm was changed to a much more efficient mechanical 37mm cannon and the nose 20mm cannon removed. Two obliquely firing 20mm cannons were mounted behind the pilot, and the gunner's armament stayed the same.
