Hi and just wanted to share some of my flights and memories with you guys. This forum and site has been a wonderful support and help during my intro over the past year to flight simming...and i do so much appreciate all the help, advice and counsel given so freely and kindly. I am heading in for another in a long series of operations, hopefully one of the last for a farily challenging project to save my leg from bone c....the c part is gone but the bone has yet to knit at the lower end. So i will be laid up in dry dock again for a while and hope to get back into the cockpit for more learning. I have loved seeing parts of our virtual world, and have recently invested in a number of improvments. so these pics are with default textures mostly and some add ons...but none the less i have loved the journey.

hope to see you and the world of FSX more soon.... and feel free to post any of your own favorite flights...i love seeing the pics and best to everyone.

I had the pleasure of a visit from my virtual flight instructor, who is a captain for a US airlines, and got to watch her bring a Airbus A330 into La Guardia in my install of FSX with lots of traffic and to see her at work at the controls (i got to work the radios) after she had showed me how the on board computer worked with a trainer model she carries with her (she is an IP) and to see the in sim flight control work quite well indeed, it really opened my eyes to what FSX can and does do. I am very glad to have the chance to learn and enjoy with you all.

I am so grateful to all who have worked and continue to work to share planes, and scenery and to push the envelope for FSX and sims for us all.

another buddy of mine flew Widgeons in Alaska..he told me:

The Wideon I flew was a modified world war two coast guard sub spotting plane..it had Lycoming inline six engines ..I don't remember the hp, but it was a great plane to fly..trimmed up perfect ..The goose on the other hand was kinda a heavy lumbering compared to the Widgeon..but it still was a very nice old plane , I miss those days and flying around Alaska ...oh !! the JF4 is the same as J44.

and...

I use to fly a Gruman Goose out of Seldovia Alaska many years ago, had the job of refuling the plane had to fly it over to Homer Ak. only twenty miles by air, as there was no roads comming into Seldovia only boats or planes..I also flew the little brother of the Goose , the Widgeon ..loved those planes , I had a part time job with the Cordova Air lines station in Seldovia

one of Jack's pics snapped from his old plane coming into Anchorage from Cook Inlet long time ago...

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/7431/jackpic.jpg

i promised Jack to try to see some of his old haunts in FSX and maybe even making some add ons myself for them if need be, he also had a gold mine on Peters Creek so i am esp interested in exploring some of the great add ons for Alaska and maybe even trying my hand at making a repaint of some old planes for Cordova lines which was absorbed by a larger carreir years ago.

Cheers.

PS i think that Hawai'i pic is from FS9..but FSX Hawaii is wonderful also... and I hope to explore it more too.

Thanks for the sentiments and the great shots, Chris. Best of luck with the surgery and its aftermath. Here's wishing you a speedy and full recovery... and remember: being laid up is an excellent excuse for a massive dose of flightsimming!

Great screenshots and story, Chris. I wish you a quick recovery! And I echo Bill W.'s comment about it being a good time for more flight simming, if you are up to it!

Cris, some great shots there, but I particularly like the second one in the first post. Looks like you flew over just as a son et lumiere was being performed at Giza.

Hey Cris,

May you have a speedy recovery and healthy, long years.

Great screenshots.

Thank the Lord for Flight Simulator! Nothing like a great flight to lose the problems of the day and have a virtual adventure flight somewhere in the world.
