It's definitely summertime here in southeast TN, and I am hating it already. I've never been keen on public pools, but I plan to start going to the one not far from here. Only a $1.50 a day.

I made a decision to avoid using the air cond. in our house during the day, and so far I am sticking to it. I have a distinct hatred for the electric company, and vow they will NOT win this year!

We waited about turning our A/C on too, but this current spell of hot and humid forced our hand. It was getting too hot in the house for the computers (not to mention us and the pets)

We have two central units: one for each floor. I run the one upstairs; not only for the computers, but at night. I refuse to sleep in sweat. Not as long as I can afford it.

Haven't used the A/C yet this year, temp runs about 15 - 20 degrees below normal. It is raining cats and dogs every day, I'm beginning to feel a bit moldy and am growing some webbing between my toes. I am about getting ready to start building a big wooden boat in my backyard, I dreamed last night that somebody was talking to me about building a boat...........:monkies:

What better way to officially celebrate the horrid season of Summer than compete in a 5K Run/Walk? Beat the hair of the dog that beats you is what I say!

Brought home this with my 1st place in the 60 and over age group. Temps were in the 90s when the race began at 5:30 yesterday, but a nice 15-20 mph breeze out of the northwest dropped the humidity into the 60% range and that made it a little more tolerable. But I lost five pounds during the event. Had to replace the fluids I had been hydrating on all day before the event.

Happy Father's day you guys.

My favorite cover of Summertime: Keith Jarrett, the best jazz piano in the world IMHO.

It's positively cold here in Upstate California, last nite I thought I was going to have to put on a long sleeve shirt. It dropped down to 64 by the neighbors pool last nite at 9pm, which is very unusual. Today was also pretty cool. haven't turned the AC on at all. It is currently 84 in this room but the rest of the house is probably around 78. The temp in the sun was only around 104 but had a nice breeze to cool us down. We usually dont turn the AC on till it gets to 80 in the regular part of the house, the computer room is always warmer.

Usually in the summer when you come into an 80 degree room it is quite refreshing as the out door temp is in the high 90's to the middle teens, and have seen as high as 121 (all temps are taken in the shade). If you are in the sun it is quite a bit warmer, or as new people to the area learn, never put a mercury thermometer in the sun, they wont make it through the summer.

Summer, summer, summertime
Time to sit back and unwind

here it is; the groove - slightly transformed.
just a bit of a break from the norm
just a little somethin' to break the monotony
of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be
a little bit out of control
it's cool to dance
but what about the groove that soothes and moves romance?
give me a soft subtle mix
and if ain't broke then don't try to fix it
and think of the summers of the past
adjust the bass and let the alpine blast
pop in my cd and let me run a rhyme
and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime

school is out and it's a sort of a buzz
back then i didn't really know what it was
but now i see what's happenin'
the way that people respond to summer madness
the weather is hot and girls are dressing less
and checking out the fellas to tell 'em who's best
riding around in your jeep or your benzos
or in your nissan sitting on lorenzos
back in philly we be out in the park
a place called the plateau is where everybody goes
guys out hunting and girls doing likewise
honking at the honey in front of you with the light eyes
she turn around to see what you beeping at
it's like the summers a natural afrodesiac
and with a pen and pad i compose this rhyme
to hit you and get you equipped for the summer time

it's late in the day and i ain't been on the court yet
hustle to the mall to get me a short set
yeah i got on sneaks but i need a new pair
cause basketball courts in the summer got girls there
the temperature's about 88
hop in the water plug just for old times sake
break to ya crib change your clothes once more
cause you're invited to a barbeque that's starting at 4
sitting with your friends cause y'all remincise
about the days growing up and the first person you kiss
and as I think back makes me wonder how
the smell from a grill could spark up nostalgia
all the kids playing out front
little boys messin round with the girls playing double-dutch
while the dj's spinning a tune
as the old folks dance at your family reunion
then six o'clock rolls around
you just finished wiping your car down
it's time to cruise so you go to the summertime hangout
it looks like a car show
everybody come lookin real fine
fresh from the barber shop or fly from the beauty salon
every moment frontin' and maxin'
chillin in the car they spent all day waxin
leanin to the side but you can't spead through
two miles an hour so everybody sees you
There's an air of love and of happiness
And this is the fresh prince's new defintion of summer madness

Supposed to break 100 today, my AC is always on. I hate the TXU also, but I am not going to suffer because of them, LOL.

I'm a fall kinda guy, love jackets and long sleeves, guess I should move further north, LOL.
