Alphasim have relased an FsX upgrade for their classic Fs9 T-28, now with native FsX model and a new soundset!

They don't have a way with screenshots do they? I'm sure on the basis that many new Alphasim models are good quality that this Trojan is great...but you wouldn't know it from the screenshots.

It flies OK, looks OK externally. Its the same old very fuzzy panel the 2004 version has.

Trojan Alert!? For a brief moment I thought this was about either spyware or condoms.

I was thinking the same thing when I went there, those were hideous, sorry. :running:

P.S.

There are a lot people just in this forum who would do 10x better work than that too, just saying.

Are the shots of the VC on the site images from the old model? I wonder if the old repaints work. It seems like a nice buy for around $20 USD

It's currently $22.12 U.S. and I'm quite tempted to have a fully FSX compatible T-28.

IMHO the FSX VC using DX10 is better and more sharp than the FS2004 version.

There were a lot of repaints out there for the B, C & D versions.

I need to track them down again.

Ok, I bought it. I haven't had time to fly it, but I must say that I'm disappointed with the cockpit. Honestly, Tim "Piglet" Conrad's T-28 Cockpit is far superior. Yes, I have the one that NorCal hacked and made "FSX compatible". It's far from perfect and I had to do panel and cfg file work and add some gauges in order to make it reasonably nice for FSX. Hey, I'm desparate for a FSX T-28 and desparate men will do some desparate things.

The only clickable features in the Alphasim offering are on the main panel and the throttle quadrant. None of the electrical systems or radios on the right panel are clickable, it's just a photograph laid over the model. Same goes for the trim wheels on the left panel. Tim's cockpit is fully clickable and functional, I just have not been able to iron out the night lighting issues.

Here are some comparison screen shots.

In short, I really wish Tim or someone would make a true, FSX T-28. The Alphasim offering is little more than port over of the FS2004 version with the bugs worked out.

Oh, I think the Alphasim sound set does not do justice to the T-28, the freeware sets for Tim's T-28 are far better.

Ok, I took it up and stressed it to the max. First off, the rudder is incredibly effective on the ground. I took off and I threw it all over the sky and this T-28 turns on a dime. I mean turns so tight and fast it will nearly give you motion sickness. I've never flown in a T-28, but I really think the Alphasim flight model is too forgiving of heavy handed flying. It did not come apart until I tried a very hard outside loop. Overall, I'm unimpressed.

She CAN make a pretty picture if you hit the button at the right moment.

Be it that the FM is a bit of the 'you can teach monkey to fly her' type i still love to have my big Chuga Chuga bird back in FSX. Model does look lovely with selfshadowing and bump mapping. Nice gesture to make this FSX version freely available to owners of the FS9 version. I would've gladly payed again if AS had gone all the way and added a new all singing and dancing VC and overhauled the FM. In my book the T-28 would really deserve that. Chance missed by AS, maybe the Piglet is listening...

Imho, best soundsuite for the T-28 is by Aaron Swindle. ' t28snz.zip ' at flightsim.com. Old but still good ! Go all the way and complete this soundsuite with my additional 'chuga, chuga' sound here : http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileUploadName=Javis#download (t28chuga.zip at the bottom )

Your are correct. It can make a nice image. Here is a D version on the ramp at Hurlburt, circa 1969.

They were done by rsgunner and I think he put them on AVSIM or Flightsim.com when the FS9 version was released.

I just converted them to dds.
