Milton, can you or a member of the team, or anyone here, advise me as to the current status of this model, with regards to FSX Accel, SP1 and 2 ? I had it ( and loved it ) for FS9, and last time I looked, some updating was being done. However, I have completely lost track of its progress or useability in FSX.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Hi Paul,

The de Havilland Dash 7 is awaiting textures and a few cleanup items for FS9. There is no FSX native version but I will make the gmax source available for anyone who wishes to convert it. Sorry that I do not have the resources to run or build for FSX.

Thank you for your interest.

Milton, thanks very much for your reply. I am pretty much hooked on FSX now, and FS9 rarely gets an outing, so its an aircraft I sorely miss, along with many others by yourself and other developers.

While I have your ear, I thought I would post these...another aircraft you are very familiar with. They were taken at last year's Flying Legends airshow at Duxford, just down the road from here, and as far as I know, she is the only one in the UK.

Anyway, all the best to you Milton, and thanks for the terrific models. :ernae:

You have to join to download and you'll see there's Milton's Howard too. Some of my favorite repaints are uploaded here under my name as one of the texture files in each repaint needed a little surgery.

Roger, I've registered and downloaded, installed and flown it. It was like meeeting up with an old friend, and I'm amazed that the existence of an FSX SP2 adaptation had slipped under my radar.

I've tried downloading your textures from here, but on clicking the 'download now' link I keep getting a 404 error message. Any idea why that might be happening ?

Paul

You're right Paul,
I'd guess that it needs resetting by admin. I'd pm maybe Henry, Panther or Willy.

Now that is most certainly more welcome than a new tie for Father’s Day! , it was my favourite aircraft for FS9 and will be a most pleasant way to cruise the Tongass Fiords , Many thanks for this to both Uncle Milton and Allen Richards .<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Thanks everyone. That VC cockpit and cabin area is the artwork of a great texture artist, Urs Burkhardt. His textures are so very realistic looking. He really made the Spartan Executive ... executive-like for the era. Scott's panel and gauges really compliment the appointment.

Milton, as one of the admins here, is it possible for you to rectify the problem I'm having downloading Roger's texture updates for the FSX Spartan ?

The file name is:

spartanfs9_to_fsx_texture_update.zip

I keep getting that 404 error message when I click the download now link. I have a feeling quite a few people will be after that file now the existense of the SP2 model is more widely known.

Thanks for your help.

Yago, if it comes about, and you do another BAS paint, I'll send you all the photos I have of her. I daresay you can never have too much reference material when repainting. She saw out the Antarctic winter at Duxford a couple of years ago...same airfield as the pictures of the Spartan earlier in the thread.

I have installed the Dash 7V2a in my FSX SP2 installtion, Fixed the props.textrs.( Thanks Milton) For the file.

...But I am experiencing weird behavior with the Dash.

Everytime I load and fly it my graphics go haywire: I loose all textures, clouds and ground, form every view :isadizzy: I have to reload the sim and start a new flight. This only happenes with the Dash 7. Though I have a few addons installed.

...And I still have the issue with some gauges that don't load or get accepted. I managed most of them. But I still get when choosing the Dash:Aoaind;Lear-45.Radio...And then when the plane loads:Lear-45.Radio

Do I have the right Dash/ version for FSX SP2?,Or should it be:D/VCMDLA? Downloaded the d7vcdal_u And installed. All the gauges showed up again. I guess the replacement of the Aircraft.cfg is at fault here. Took her for a short flight and ...Again the graphics went haywire...

Thanks.

Hello Milton: Thanks for the link. I downloaded a new file.It was the same I was using. Same issue with the gauges. i had managed to edit out HGHB_ALTWARN_LIGHT...

Now with the new file all the '98 gauges show again. I also downloaded and tried the file d7vcmdla-update-2 ( Which as it says in the read-me has not been tested in FSX...Didn't work for me either)

And I can't find them all, not even in the .gau (zip) files; I wonder if anyone could share a panel.cfg that is already fixed?

Went on to load and all the gauges '98 came up again ...obviously with a new .cfg file that hasn't been edited. So I went on to edit it again...Found the HGHB_ALTWARN_LIGHT [vcockpit+02] gauge02 and [window03] gauge00 I put two(//) in front. But I cannot find any of the other gauges anywhere.

aoaind
PJD Hydraulic Pressure (shows twice.)
Lear-45.Radio ( Shows also twice).

Thanks Milton! Just did that. Noticed though, I didn't have any .cab files in my panel folder????...So I just downloaded them from the links above and pasted in the .cab files. I didn't unzip them. Still I got the messages, when I loaded up the Dash for:aoaind and Lear-45.Radio.( Comes up twice) Again I did a visual search through the panel.cfg and the .cab files, and FSX gauges folder.Didn't find anything. Didb a search in th enet regarding this and someone wrote that the gauge was located:[window01] gauge 31 and again [default view] gauge00; But I suspect this later one is for Fs9 as I do not have a default view section in my panel.cfg

falcon409
October 9th, 2009, 03:26
Berlopez, I had that problem only on the initial installation of the Dash7, once I moved the two cab files to my panel folder and moved Milton's cfg file into the panel folder to overwrite the original all was well. It actually gives you a very nice set of radios now and the 98' gauges are gone.

Milton Shupe
October 9th, 2009, 04:46
Be sure to remove those old cab files from where ever you had them.

I moved teh Dash 7 into my FSX SP2 ACCEL setup just 2 weeks ago. The only issue I had was the prop texture. But, I always put all gauges in my panel folders.

Wild Bill Kelso

Sorry, I have to get back to the spinprop issue again:

A FSX user of my yellow repaint just wrote to me

...However the props when running appear to be see through. I installed the spin_prop-t file in the DC7 but they still look alike.

Milton, you posted in the FS2004 thread:

I'll try to attach the spinprop.bmp here for you to copy to each of your texture folders. (Basically, all I did to the alpha was reduce it to 15,15.15)

That's it.

<FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND>http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10723&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1252989241 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10723&d=1252989241)

</FIELDSET>

Now I'm a little confused: :isadizzy:
Did I get it right to change the alpha channel of the spinprop.bmp (not spinprop_t.bmp) to a RGB value of 15/15/15?
That's quite dark/lucent...

What did you successful FSX/SP2 users do to get the props whirling?
(Too bad I can't test it here on my own...).

Or am I currently a little mind-blocked :redf: ?

Thanks in advance,
Markus.

Falcon409: Just did that and moved Miltons' panel.cfg into my Dash. Got the gauges again, I had managed to get rid of most of them,as I say above,to Milton. Luckily I saved that panel.cfg and put it back. It still has the aoaind and the Lear-45.Radio showing. I've searched everywhere for these two, panel.cfg,air.cfg FSX gauges folder, computer,.cab files and .gau files. All I know is when I use the overhead panel icon the aoaind shows again. The panel.cfg section of the overhead doesn't mention this gauge

I can't help but thinking maybe one of the old .cab or .gau files is still residing in my FSX gauges folder? I have in there too.

...While trying to figure this out I decided to play around with the Dash. I added the [camera definitions] of the default 737-800,under general, to make it more true FSX. It puts the cherry on the icing

You can remove from your general FSX/Gauges folder any .cab or file named:

ST_Dash
ST_Dash7
Annun
PST_hghb.altalert*****
ST_*******
D7_******

This may help. Sorry that I can't be of more help without seeing the problem.

Milton Shupe
October 10th, 2009, 05:20
You should be using the panel.cfg I posted above. That's the one I am using here in FSX, the same I use in FS9.

From this point, simce I cannot experience the problem, you can isolate the problem by eliminating whole sections or groups of code in the panel.cfg.

Keep a copy of the panel.cfg aside.

Then remove window00, then window01, window02, vcockpit00, etc. one at a time until the problem goes away.

Now start with a fresh copy of the panel.cfg with all sections in place.

Once you determine what section it is in, then, eliminate half the gauges in that section and test. Keep eliminating half of the gauges until the problem goes away.

Now refresh that section and isolate the gauge.

Once you find that gauge, post the line out of the panel.cfg here.

Since we are both running FSX/SP2/ACCEL and you say you are running what I posted above ... I do not understand why we have different results.

Berlopez
October 10th, 2009, 12:14
Nor do I Milton, and again thanks for your help with this little annoying issue...Otherwise the dash flies wonderful.

I started my old compt. and checked my old Fs9 version of the Dash, I have in there only 2D panel. You say:You should be using the panel.cfg I posted above. That's the one I am using here in FSX, the same I use in FS9...(?)

I copied this panel.cfg to my FSX-SP2 ( I'm not running accel.) The gauges and others showed up again...So I resorted for my old .cfg which only has two offending gauges: aoaind and Lear-45.Radio. Searched again for them, came out empty.

Berlopez
October 11th, 2009, 09:32
Another thing I have notived strange of my Dash 7 installation is despite the fact that I accept the gauges in one plane ( I have three reapaints/textures) I have to load the gauges again when I change. This being a panel gauges issue...I don't see the connection, why the gauges show up again while loading another texture?

I have recently updated my Vista to SP2...I doubt this may have anything to do with it???

Not a problem berlopez. I have zipped my Dash 7 from the FSX folder that works for me without issues, and uploaded the zip to my web site. I will give you the download link by PM.

EDIT: Well, I see that you do not accept PM's or Email so please PM or Email me for the link.

Thanks
