Now on topic: that looks awesome! It's the first I heard of an F15 being developed for FSX. Which company is working on it?

Take this as a complement, but feel free to "dirty up" any of my models! Nice work!

Any more weathering, and this think will look like its based out of Davis-Monthan AFB. ;)

thanks folks!

I was kind of confused about thhat myself when I was looking at reference images. Must simply be due to all the use the seat has seen!

Seats do come out regularly for maintenance checks as well. I do not work on fighter jets, but I imagine they must inspect the CADS and other parts of the ejection seat that are life limited. So even if it never gets used it most likely comes out of the plane quite a bit. If the wear was from the seat being used I don't think we would have pictures of it in the plane. lol :monkies:

Gibbage
June 21st, 2009, 14:29
Im sure the wear is from the pilots pants moving along it. Those flight suits are very baggy and bulky with all the layers and G-suit on. Notice the wear is on top of the handle and on the inner side, right along the calf. If it was being used as a handle, the wear would be on the inside, how you would grab it. An eye for detail like that is critical for us artist's to make it as realistic as possible. A lot of things dont make sense to some people at first sight, but if they think about the technical aspect of why it looks the way it does, then it makes sense.

It's amazing to me how fast professional modelers can crank stuff out than your avergage FS developer, at least it seems that way watching you guys go. Very nice so far! One of the best by the looks of it.

Don't you think it would be nice to add few polys to canopy frame? Eveything looks stunning, there are plenty of polys everywhere, but canopy frame is so angular (i hope this is correct word ;D) when compared to other parts.

I was going to say the same thing, really jaged. Everything else looks stunnign though

The canopy bow does have a certain geodesic quality to it. I didn't mention it because I assumed it was still a work in progress, and would be ironed out into a more sperical shape. After all, you don't wear beat-up sneakers with a brand new tuxedo. But, I guess there is always a chance that some people would.

The sooner stuff like this is brought to our attention the better. Colin is already in work on fixing it. :applause:

As far as the speed brake and wings here is a picture of those corrections. I should of held off a few moments with my post. Here is the latest shot of the model.

You know what they say about assuming things ;)

As an artist, we tend to get tunnel vision. Some of these projects last for MONTHS at a time, and staring at the same thing for that long, we can miss even the most obvious details. Trust me, I have some duzy's that Colin would rather me not talk about :wavey: Thats why we come here and to other forums. Its good advertising, yes, but it truly helps us fine tune the model with a fresh set of eyes.

I have been doing this for years, and truly believe that one of the main qualities to becoming a great artist is to accept critique. In that, I welcome it and even seek it! It makes us a better artist overall. So please, if you see something obvious, point it out. Dont be afraid. We may get a little grumpy from time to time, but in the end it makes a better product. Remember, we are doing this for you, the community.

As far as I know, it isn't dead. I think it is simply taking longer than they expected. Last I heard, the models were pretty much done and it is now going through coding.

The Eagles are coming but, sadly, we do have many other irons in fire, including but not limited to, the Skycrane (SOON!), the 310, the Aw-109, the Apache D, the Super Cobra, the Harrier and others...

We also all have real jobs that we must do to feed kids, new and old...

The F-15's are complex planes and we would very much like to do them justice. Time, time and time...

Understand completely! We can wait ... but, your silence has made even me wonder, if things were dropped/abandoned. On that note, I'm happy to see the "small" list of things being promised, coming out, just wondering if the F/A-22 was still part of that list as well?
Thanks for letting us know, and good luck with the new/old jobs! :wavey:

Sorry to hear about his/her illness; hope it is nothing too serious. Please convey my/our SOH users best wishes and hope they get well soon. I'll pray for them as well. :engel016:

BTW: Those F-15 VC screenshots posted earlier are excellent; Keep up the good work! :salute:
