Leopard skin look??

I have an HP 4890 scanner, scanned in picture from magazine as a .bmp 1200 and the picture comes out "dotted"...anyone know how to correct this?

im pretty sure that all has to do w/ the image quality. ive had that happen to me while i was repainting if i didnt save the file the right way. try adjusting the quality the image scans at and see if that doesnt help

Printed images are done as tiny dots in many cases.
You need to use one of the descreening options in your scanner software to try to filter this out. Most scanner software will offer various descreening options (usually including "Colour magazine", "glossy colour magazine" or similar). Try a few and see which gives the best results
