Hey everyone. Just wanted to stop by here and share some new shots of the F-15 that are hot off the press. Keep in mind that they are still renders in the original design program, but still feel free to lend your comments and suggestions. In other news work is still progressing on the P-38 and YF-23. The YF-23 is still in beta, and we are hopeful that it will be out in the near future. For more info on the YF-23 you can head over to http://www.fsd-international.com/ , or http://www.milviz.com/ . I should have more shots of that up in the forums over the next day or two. I look forward to bringing more news on these aircraft, as well as a few other projects that are still unannounced. So stay tuned!

Just a comment on this one that these are not the only payloads we are making for the F-15. The other weapons are just not at a stage to be shown at this time.

You know, I'm trying REALLY, REALLY hard to save for a new Camaro here. You keep on working on all this stuff, and I'll never get there!

That said, don't stop the great work. Any chance of adding CFTs to the model for those long ferry flights?

I'm sure this would require a major reworking of the model, but speaking as a Boeing employee it would be neat to see the new F-15 "Stealth Eagle", too... I don't really expect it though. Great work nevertheless!

Heh. I was going to suggest that too Colin, but I had a feeling he would strangle me with my X-52 cord... :monkies:

Also, as for you being a Boeing employee, I live here in Washington. I got to visit the big factory at Paine Field a few weeks ago. Nothing more impressive then seeing 4 747's on a production line, and realizing there are 5 production lines!!! The 747's looked SMALL in there!!! I also visited Boeing field and paid homage to the Red Barn. Very cool.

It must be nice to work for Boeing. I imagine the manufacturing plant would have to be huge to accomodate the 747's and many other planes. If I am not mistaken the manufacturing facility holds the world record for most square footage under one roof. On to the F-15 though. We are planning on doing the F-15C, and F-15E models. They will be coming with the conformal fuel tanks. Here are some new shots of the cockpits fresh from the studio. Please keep in mind there is still no weathering applied.

So long as conformals are optional on the F-15C since I believe only the Alaskan F-15C's routinely flew with them due to the extremely long distances involved each time they went up.

I for one am beginning to feel like I died and have gone to fighter pilot heaven. The new pending releases and the recent past ones are fantastic!

Weapons and externals are optional on both models. Configurable as the pilot desires or mission requires. :USA-flag:

Wouldn't really call it 'stealthy', the intakes and jetpipes not to mention the afterburner all make it highly visible on both radar and IR, but it does look funky with those fins.

Glad everything is opitional :jump:

The idea is supposed to be to make it stealthy from the front, more or less. From the press release and the Aviation Week article there have been suggestions that some sort of insert would be provided for the inlets to do something about that. The jetpipes they don't seem to be doing much with. The F-15SE is about stealth on a (constrained) budget versus more conventional aircraft, not going up against true stealth aircraft.

And yes, the weapon-carrying CFTs can be swapped out for a conventional load, too.

As far as working for Boeing, I'm at IDS-Philly. So no fighters or 747s, but we do have V-22s and Chinooks! Still very cool.

Just a question: are these the 3DSMax screenshots?

Roadburner440
June 13th, 2009, 11:41
Yes those are screen shots from the rendering program. Still no weathering/shading has been applied. As soon as we get the aircraft into the simulator I will be sure to get some shots up. For now it is still in the texturing and modeling stages.

This thing is looking sweet!

What ever happened to the B-1B program? That still going on?

Roadburner440
June 13th, 2009, 13:23
Thanks everyone for the positive comments. The B-1B is on the list of aircraft to be done, but it is quite a ways down. The immediate priorities are the YF-23, P-38, F-15, and F-111. As a lot of these projects near completion we will be announcing other aircraft. Some information even I am not privy to. As soon as I get more info it will be here and on the Milviz forum as well so just stay tuned. :ernae:

A little late night update on the F-15. Texture work and exterior modeling is coming along nicely. The textures and bump maps are still WIP. The boarding ladder has been added among other refinements. Although chances are if you are like me you scrolled straight to the screen shots first and then went back up and read this. :icon_lol:

Show the full weapons loads hanging off the stations. No such thing as to many bombs.

Overall view of the aircraft from the port rear. Catch a small glimpse of the long field arresting gear hook on the tail.

Final shot is off the port nose. Can see the area around the engine exhaust/after burner section is still getting work. Looks more and more like a F-15 everyday. As always comments are welcome.

Just some constructive feedback, the airbrake seems to be in need of some smoothing since the forward fuselage blends into the top surface of the main wing/fuselage top area.

See the photo below - no sharp edges where forward fuselage meets fuselage/wing top surface:

John Stinstrom's Seymour-Johnson AFB for FS9 and the MAIW Lakenheath AB both work well in FSX. In fact, most of the bases by these two builders work really good.

Who remembers Jane's Combat Simulation's F-15E Strike Eagle? That was a fun combat sim that I spent hours with.:applause:

Steve, those are fantastic renders of your FSX Eagle, which is looking to be a must-get. Thanks.

Roadburner440

Thanks for the comment. I didn't have Jane's F-15E.. I did have Jane's USAF, and if I'm not mistaken I think they made my Longbow II game as well. Those were some fun games. I still have the manual for Longbow II kicking around my house, but no idea what happened to the game disc. It will certaintly be nice having a native FSX Eagle with this level of detail.

Here are some shots of the F-15C with some different loadouts. These are still in the rendering program, and the loadouts will be configurable to your liking. These are just some examples of what is possible. If you want to see more loadouts on the F-15E model they are here at http://www.milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=410 .
