A "significant" branch of virtual criminals has been put out of operation following the closure of an illegal website selling personal data, the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) has said.

The Darkmarket (my edit: guess thats the new name for the blackmarket ) forum, an international website which enabled fraudsters to buy and sell credit card details, was shut down on Thursday night.

It allowed criminals to exchange information about how to commit online fraud as well as offering details contained on the magnetic information strips on the back of credit cards.

Sixty people across the globe have been arrested in connection with the website, including arrests in Leicester, Manchester, Humberside, South Yorkshire and London.
