If that's what happens when you are just playing around, I can't wait to see what happens when you get serious.

Perhaps not Jan Kees, but definitely very nice Barry!

A very nice repaint, a great model (in all respects), an excellent paintkit, but I really hate that stupid pilot! :banghead:

Cheers,

Yes, as soon as Henry restores my ability to upload repaints.. Uploading does not work for me after the SOH server crash.

I am currently painting up a storm with the new high res paint kit and I am doing stuff that everyone seems to forget about....the RAF, RCAF and RAAF Mustangs. I have a thing for roundels rather than 'stars 'n bars'. ;)

I really wanted to do some of the camo schemes but came across a problem with the paint kit which I haven't been able to get around as part of the front glass supports pick up paint from the belly which means you end up with two rectangles of light grey paint in your green or dark grey camo. :isadizzy:

Just a marvelous job! Your to be congratulated. It's just beautiful. All the colors are right, no extra antennas or doo-dads that didn't exist on the real aircraft. I bet you don't even have a strobe on it.
I'm a purist. I figure that if you do a WWII aircraft, you should be true to the original in memory of the men that flew them. With this one you captured it in spades. - Wonderful!

Hey Lewis, will paints made for this model work with the Accusimmed WOPIII version? I don't want to spend time on this model if they won't be compatible with the new one.

However, this one does have an excellent paint kit. I might have to do one anyways, even if it won't be compatible.

This is one impressive repaint. It's now one of the best looking warbirds on the market, and it doesn't even have bump maps. The scheme on the Flying Undertaker is hideous to me, but this scheme is very pleasing to my eye, though I'm hoping to see a blue nose comming since those are my favorites. I've also replaced the Merlin sounds with the ones from the Plane Design Spitfire. I like to fly at 30" and the default sounds are a bit weak around that range, and to me doesn't really sound like a mustang in cruise, however the Plane Design sounds have a really mean and beefy cruise sound at that power setting.

The sounds are good to me, its a stang not a spitfire afterall. Interstingly we had alittle discussion over our forums re: the stang whistle sound recently and DH stepped in a noted that when he flys you cannot hear any whistle it is a completly external spectator sound.

Anyway yes I agree with you to be honest, Ive never been a fan of the Pacific mustangs schemes, much rather it be a checkered nose, red nose or blue nose of the ETO, but I believe thats simply because its easier for me to relate too.

On mention of the sound , the Hurri , Spit , Muzzie , each have a different tone .. it could be the shape of the blade , the amount of blades , but then this could also be said about your PC sound system , the finale compare was a Me/Bf 109G , in front had this very unique 'hum-whistle' sound durring takeoff , as it pasted , sound was more the allison , again the same to be said about the Merlins .. Packard'M''s shape of the fuselage how the air pass's the shape create's a differnent sound signature . :running:

The sounds are good to me, its a stang not a spitfire afterall.

Intersting about the sounds, I would have thought both engines would be similar, though I've never heard a Spitfire first hand or considered the prop in the equation. With FSX add ons it seems when comparing different reditions of even the exact same plane the sounds can be totally different due to recording method, equipment, and the way the given recordings are set to scale with throttle input. I'm more of a fantasy flier than a historical one, so when it comes down to the choice between sounds that are a bit meaner with a bigger roar, or sounds that are more accurate but less agressive, I'll chose the meaner and more aggressive sounds. For some reason, of the WWII Fighters series, the P-51 has my least favorite sounds, and the BF109 has my favorite.

Glad you guys like the repaint, you have posted some amazing screenshots of her!

Here is the next one I'm working on, just as garish as the yellow nose, but this time a red nose paint from the 4th Fighter Group. Don't have the name painted yet, anybody know which one this is? There are too many killmarks I need to remove at least one, some period photographs show 9, others show 11.

Thanks, good to see you back Jan Kees. I should have Sunny VIII finished by Monday or Tuesday. Too many things on the honey-do list for today and tomorrow won't leave me with much time to paint until then.

I hope you like the new paintkit and look forward to seeing some hi-res paints from you. :ernae:
