Hi These things are breeding like rabbits - first the two versions of the Vildebeest and now there's a Vincent complete with message hook and I haven't even started on the two Spanish versions

baldy

ps they're all still in undercoat - Uncle Tgt doesn't even know about this one yet

... I went all "Obio" & got carried away with a "non-combat" scheme ...:173go1: What was I thinking, this isn't FS9!

... I'll get to the good stuff once this template is sorted, promise ...:blind:

... instead of 22 sqdn from 1937, here's one from 36 sqdn just prior to WW2 ...

... Hewman will recognise this one ...:wavey:

I'd like to use the 22 squadron Vildebeest in my Torpedo Bomber ETO campaign!
looks great. I had another Vildebeest but it was really bad on frame rates (at least on my old clunker).

keep up the good work!

UT has info on 22 and 42 Sqn UK based aircraft prior to their switch to Beauforts in 1940.
He'll probably put you together a suitable scheme using a generic early war camouflage if you ask him:icon_lol:

UncleTgt
June 4th, 2009, 11:45
:jump: ... don't forget Baldy's recently revisited the Fairey Albacore too ...

I think Hewman's given me enough to get something sorted for the ETO - consider it added to the (long) list.

Most likely it'll be a Vildebeest IV.

36 squadron, APR 1940 ...

Uncle-Tgt a bit of confusion on my part here :isadizzy: Post #9 shows a picture of a Vincent tip's-turvy & 3 jpg's. Are the jpg's of beast's or Vincent's? Now 33 sqd is a beast sqd. ya?

This web page helped me I think, the differance being bomber vice torpedo bomber: http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_vickers_vincent.html

Is this correct? :isadizzy::isadizzy::isadizzy:

Latest pic of this version - the paintwork is my adaptation of Uncle's base skin

btw can anyone help me out here - I've got a three view drawing of a Spanish a/c with torpedo crutch as per RAF a/c but I've also got a photo showing the more regular position - mind you the photo is of the prototype floatplane

I got the topsy turvy photo from an airfield history site that stated it was a Vildebeest of 22 Squadron, 1937. I can see a torp cradle, so I had no reason to think any different.

Anyways, it was just a diversion whilst I get the templates up to speed for the WW2 skins - Baldy's swamped me with Vildebeest III, Vildebest IV, & Vincent models.:isadizzy:

After all, this is a CFS2 a/c no point in wasting time on pre-war stuff!

Next stop, DEC'41- JAN'42 skins for 36 sqdn & 100 sqdn (as above)

Then I'll swap to work on the Vilde IV & Vincent & get at least 1 skin ready for each of them.

I can always come back to the Vilde III later & work on some 22 & 42 sqdn skins, plus maybe a 273 sqdn skin that Hewman 100 found for me -

Great stuff Uncle-Tgt just simply lovely:jump::jump::jump:

Question for the Mission/Campaign designers; has anyone thought of revisiting the Iraqi Rebellion? Lots of early war birds used there :pop4: This page got me thinking about a CFS2 mini campaign and a few more history links:

Uncle-Tgt I shell concur with your #9 post topsy turvy photo is a V'beest with 4 large bomb rails and 4 Small rails for 20 pounders and torpedo rack. Now why the 4 20 pounders mounts perhaps for smoke pots? Or is the plane an converted V'beest to Vincent we are looking at in the photo?

Oldwheat what say you?

Thank you, baldy, Uncletgt and everyone who contributed to this project! A really wonderful airplane, and one I wanted for a long time!

I have one small problem, maybe someone can help: When loading, I get the message shown in picture 1 and when I look at the plane from the outside, thereŽs no crew, so i guess iŽm missing some files. Where can i find them?

And while I certainly do not want to critizise, I noticed there are a few gauges not included in the panel that I consider useful. So I played with the panel config a little and added an altimeter, a turn indicator and a boost gauge. (picture 3)
IŽll attach the modified file here, in case anyone wants it.

Once again, thanks a lot to everyone!

Hi Skylane

your missing crew are from Martin Wright's site - MW Graphics in the CFS2 extras section

a great site for all sorts of things

There is a Neiuport Be-2C Bomber by Gary Aumaugher at http://www.aerocrate.com that has weapons of this type in the Kit. Not sure if they will "translate" to WWII appearance or spec, but the weights are correct...

Chris Carlson made some similar bombs for the SCW Bre-19 = 22# & 110#. He gave me permission to upload them a few years ago. I'm certain that I still could do so.
