:ques:I've been ill, so will someone please tell me in kindergarten english
how I get my muz flashes in CFS2-from FDS2 aircraft to appear ;not in thin air about half a meter from leading edge and up somewhat, but where I want em. I've been ona steep curve learning FSDS2 with the very limited tutorial and I can see I could use trial and error till my HD packs in!.
Has anyone got a quick way to overide the (what seems to me default) positioning. I thought I was doing so well and proving to myself I've still got some neurons firing, now I'm not so sure

Boris, you're over in the vast empty wasteland of SIMBay--this should be in the CFS2 Forum.
The positioning of the muzzle flashes is in the DP file; Moving them about is a bit complicated, as the flashes are relative to where the gun muzzles are supposed to be, and where the ammunition supply is located.
One of the easiest things to do is grab a DP file from a similar aircraft and use it; The figures will be much closer to start with.
If not, here's a sample line for one gun.

The first line is for determining what and where the gun is relative to its ammunition supply--in effect, you're dictating what the gun fires and where from. The second line determines the placement of the muzzle flashes, ammunition count and whether or not tracers are available.
The numbers between the asterisks are the relevant ones for placement (the asterisks aren't there, normally. . .). The first number in the sequence is distance from centre, left or right. The second number is vertical movement. The third is movement from centre, front to back. In metres. In the example, the 'ammunition' is on the centre line (the first 0), 0.766 above centre, and 1.02 forward. The gunflashes are 0.2 to the left of centre, 0.05 further up than the ammunition, and in line with it.
Guesswork and trial-and-error do the rest.
Simple as dirt.
