Hi All,

Keeping the wagon rolling. I found this one while searching for some other P-39 schemes. Its a P-39J , 41-7073, flown by Lt. Leslie Spoonts of the 57th FS, 54th FG, Kodiak, Alaska, June-December 1942. It appears that the "J" was identical to the "D" except for some minor changes to the propeller and exhaust stacks, 12 each side instead of six.

Here's a shot of Spoonts aiorcraft. If there is any interest, I'll clean it up and upload it.

Thanks,
Bub

BTW: I posted this before the "big crash" hope I'm not responsible.

Hi All,

I found this picture of a 57th FS P-39 with this Wolf's Head emblem. They used the emblem early, upon their arrival in Alaska, and did away with it later on. The number on the nose is just a guess. I guess I'll upload both P-38J's and you can take your pick.

Thanks,
Bub

That is one cool insignia, my Recon Troop had something similar on the sides of our M113 APC's
