Today we are happy to announce that we will be releasing the FSN Alpha Carrier worldwide on May 22 instead of the planned May 29 date. Aside from a few odds and ends and finishing the installer...it's pretty much finished. The 12 page Ops Manual has been completed and I thought I'd throw a few pics out of the VC from the manual to give you a bit of a taste of the interior.

As part of the celebration, we will be kicking the launch off with a world tour with the carrier in our FSX server via Gamespy or direct connect to 74.76.65.74 We ramped our server up recently to 50 players and a second server will be online for spillover. We've also upgraded our Ventrilo voice server from 25 to 60 slots so there should enough room for everyone.

We'll be posting details of the world tour this week on our forums at www.flightsimnation.com (http://www.flightsimnation.com)

Wow, you can control all the systems of this carrier and even get multiple views?
I have to admit that's a very impressive, and original addon ! Excellent job on this one.
You said you will use it in multiplayer. Does that mean that one player controls the carrier, and the other players land on it and takeoff from it ? :jump:

yes - one player skippers the boat but if you share it another can take the helm or ATC/LSO duties

For me, this is one of the neatest ideas I have seen for FSX. Can't wait to see how it performs over the internet.

Blaze: firstly , hardened platforms can not be animated but ...

the animated elevator has invisible hardened platforms at the top and bottom of the travel. to get down to the hangardeck you can use the MAP and change your altitude from 78 to 38 feet or visa versa -

or you might taxi out onto the lowered elevator and call the skipper to raise it while your changing your altitude in your map - when you are back in, the elevator is underneath you - or you could call the skipper to lower the elevator for an easier entry to the hangar deck with a helicopter

just wanted to clear up any ,misconceptions about elevators in FSX

I'm sure it's possible to model the elevator as an independent AI ship that would always move exactely like the main carrier.... sort of VERY close formation. The up/down movement of the elevator could be obtained either by main gear animation, either by slew or something like that...
