View Full Version : When FSX Comes Out???

Just curious about what others plan on doing when FSX comes out. Are you going to rush and be the first to buy it? Or, are you going to wait a month - 6 months? Or, are you going to wait 6+ months?

If I don't upgrade my PC this spring/summer, I most likely will be in the 6+ month market as my P4/1.5 PC will most likely die trying to use FSX. If I can upgrade, I will be in the 1-6 month time frame.

I figure the 1-6 months should be enough to learn all about what will and will not work in FSX from FS9. After all, like most of you, I have a lot invested in FS9 add-ons.

I will most likely buy it soon after release, but I'll have to see how well it runs on my computer before I decide on any and which upgrades.

I'll be at the store the day it's released (just like FS9), check the performance and see what I need to upgrade (if anything)

That's the plan stan! LOL

If its $50 at first I'll wait till the price goes down, although I got a great bargain deal on fs9: $6! I'm not lying.

Only $50 ??

I'm kinda expecting double that price !

FS2004 was €80 already when it came out (About $85 !)

Well I will be there with my face pressed against the window hours before the store opens. I will buy it... hoping by that time that the DX10 cards are out. Then will build the best puter money can buy.

Will be buying another laptop here in the interim for work so I can wait on building my super computer. :wiggle:

Very interesting responses. I thought for sure some would wait to see if their FS9 planes would work.

In the end, I will end up getting but I figure it will take me 1-6 months to convince the boss I need it.

Will probably buy within the first week of release, and upgrade Video card(s) as required afterwards, within limits of my budget.

I may wait until next spring and build another new system for Vista and FSX.

Same as Drake, let em sort all the bugs (bah!! M$, fix all of em :P) then upgrade once i've let other people make all the mistakes of buying a top range card of the day and find out it dont work right :costumes:

I'm not sure, since I'll be a poor student at university, I'm getting a laptop to take in august or september which should hopefully be powerful enough to run fs9 pretty well, at the moment i'm doing most of my flying in fs2002 since my computer is very low end. I'll probably buy fsx like i did with fs9 but wait until the next versions out before i buy a good enough computer:costumes:

Hi all.

I'll get FSX the day it's released. It should run great on my old system... and on WindowsXP. We won't need new operating systems or computers to enjoy it.

If you don't believe me, ask taildragger. It will be compatible with our current systems.

It'll definitely be compatible, I just want the full Vista only enhancements :)

I'll buy FS X as soon as it's released locally. I'll probably wait until Vista and DX10 cards have been out a few months before I upgrade my computer.

I don't know if DX10 features will be included in the initial release of FS X. I was under the impression they will be included in a later update?

BTW it appears that taildragger is moving to a new project (http://blogs.msdn.com/tdragger/archive/2006/03/24/560669.aspx) in ACES.

I'll be waiting until the Vista's optimized version is out then get it.

But first I need to upgrade Everything else (except my case & DVD drives!). I'm talking new Motherboard, CPU, PS, RAM, HDD, SLi Video set up, DX10 Physics Card ( if released? ).

Will be waiting for the new generation of AMD processors to come out also...

May get a new case if budget allows.

This all should be done just after the New Year 2007?

I'll probably wait at least 6 months. I'm not hard to please (still love CFS2) so I'll likely just keep flying FS9 and make sure FSX isn't a bomb.
