Spend eight days in Marmaris, Turkey last week and we had a great time there! Awesome weather (Except for the first day..), a beautiful enviroment, very friendly local people, good food and some interesting excursions. Absolutely love the country!

Here's how the weather looked on the first afternoon after we arrived...

Luckily it was the only time it rained that week!

The beach of Marmaris at dusk:

Two photo's overviewing the city, taken during a 'jeep safari':

The omnipresent Mustafa Kemal, nicknamed Ataturk, or father of all Turks; the founder of modern-day Turkey:

The beach we stopped at during the Jeep safari; I have no idea what it was called, but it seemed as close to paradise as it is possible:

No holiday for me without visiting some ancient history; our first excursion took us to Ephesos, a former Greek city. Three hours by bus over the not so smooth Turkish roads, but worth every second!
It is estimated that only 5-10% of the town has been uncovered so far!

The Celsus library:

The amphitheatre seen from above; it is estimated that about 24,000 people could sit here! The acoustics are such that you can here people talk on the ground even at the top ring.

On Friday we went to my favourite old city; Rhodes (Greece). About an hour away by a fast catamaran. We visited that island last year but it's really worth visiting just to see the enourmous old city again.

According to the legend this is the place where the Rhodes collossus used to be:

You see a place on map and see pictures in Britannica and think one thing then you see that same place through the eyes of a photographer and now it is a place you would desire to go...Outstanding. I'm a history buff anyway and Turkey has tons of that.

Wonderful picts Ferry, nice to see were other people go on holiday.
Is there an airport near by? Might be interesting to fly around there in FSX.

The closest major airport (Still two hours away by bus) is Dalaman airport; follow the coast to the west to fly towards Marmaris. Or alternatively, take off from Diagoras (Rhodes) and fly to the north towards Turkey, then fly along the coast to the east. Very nice sunsets in that area in Fs.

Well most of the places we visited I have to thank our travel organisation Sunweb, and especially our guide Yasmijn for. :applause: They really know where to find all the good places!
