If you have a dual or quad core system, go to start/run/Boot/ Advance Options/ Put a check in the " The of Processors" and select 2 for dual core and 4 for quad cores. Also put a check in ' Maximum Memory" BTW, this tweak will not let your pooter grow wings and fly but it should help some...Mike

What do you put in the run box there to get to boot / advanced?

Type in "msconfig" without qoutes.
In the popup go the start tab and to "advanced options".

Unless you are running a 64bit OS I wouldn't do that. Because even if you have 4 GB of memory now it will only access 2GB...

I believe changing this to 4 on an i7 will eliminate the other 4 virtual cores, I think that is what happened when I did this change some months back. I could be wrong though. It has been a while.

I don't see any benefit to this tweak, especially since i can't set /MAXMEM higher than 2048 MBytes.

That /NUMPROC might only be of use if not all of your cores are used.

In my eyes, /3GB and /USERVA are far better tweaks to deal with memory issues (on x86 OSes).

I would be willing to bet $$$ that the benefit to any of the above mentioned tweaks mean next to nothing in gaming performance for 32bit OS

I've tried this (Vista 64) but I'm not aware it has changed anything, not in regard to FSX performance anyway.

Any tweaks are welcome though so long as they don't screw anything up!

I'll tell you this, in my Vista 64-bit, it'll speed up the loading of programs, not necessarily speed up frame rates in FS.

Here's a step-by-step done by a dummy for other dummies with Vista.

As Moe says, Click Programs > Accessories > Run. But do noy type in Boot, rather type in msconfig.

When the MS System Configuration window opens, click the Boot tab.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/cazmodel/msconfig.jpg

When the Boot window opens, click Advanced Options.

When the Advanced Options window opens, check Number of processors and enter the number below as Moe say, 2 for dual, 4 for Quad. Next check the Maximum memory box, don't worry about a number, just check the box, a number will usually appear.

Henry....I was trying to catch yours on fire...hows about sending me your mailing address so I can ship ya a high end MB and processor....I gotta couple of boards in the closet and some spare 3.0 and 3.2 45n processor...then you can see what fast is all about.Does it matter what color ya want cus I know you is mighty picky...Mike
