Looks like the Alphasim EE Canberra. If so, nice job with the black paint.

Yes, it is the upgraded Alphasim canberra and i doubt it will ever be released. I've heard that it unfortunately wasn't a bestseller a few years ago. I've done a ton of repaints for this bird, and here are a few:

You see, I find that ethos confusing, not a best seller ?, what the ?, in this day and age selling anything is a bonus, it cost little to host it up on a web site, the bandwidth in downloads is covered by the product price.

Looking at those shots it looks like little needs doing, probably some internal work, but it does depend on how much updating is required, one presumes it hasnt got bump maps and all the fangly FSx stuff like 3D gauges etc, but a simple conversion and compilation with the FSx compiler would probably satisfy many until a 'real deal' Canberra comes along in the future, truth be known it'll probably never happen so this is as realistically as good as y'all ever get. Best part is, many FS9 models were built to a poly budget so a simple recompile as is would make blisteringly good FPS models, you'd have to price accordingly though.

Sometimes I just dont get it, soon the virtual skys will be full of F-16s and B777s :isadizzy:.

Very nice repaints, I like the B-57 variant, very topical to me at this moment in time, very nice indeed.

Kindest

Michael

I'd buy it too.. This is truly sadness... Perhaps the original author would re-release it through another provider??? Anyone know who they are?? I'll writem him/her and find out.

The original author will be a conglomerate of people, you'd have to get permission from all of them to ship it elsewhere. Technically if the airframe modeller walked then he'd be poking others who worked to get the complete product to the shelf. Trust me, I've tried :).

Alphasim works as a team so no one person has overall say in a product, unless they actually developed most of it them selves and only two I know did that, Mark Harper ( now at Skysim but setting up his own sight ) and Bave Bushell of B-58, SR-71 fame, nearly all other products are team efforts.

I dont know who did the original Canberra, it never passed my desk, at the time I was helos only, it may be a long shot, if Alphasim clearly are not going to release, to perhaps get a new model from him, but it'll be short quite a few other factors like sounds, panels, gauges and maybe FDE etc.

Best

Michael

I'm ready to, I'm liking the price too... Although it is all conditional on one thing...

Henry, are your paints available to download somewhere? I'm particularly interested in the SAAF and RAAF ones :ernae:

Soon i will probably be releasing a ton of textures for it. I have to go trough the paints, convert some to dds, do some paperwork...but yes, not in the distant future. That means "soon" :isadizzy:

I freakin love the Canberra, such a range, so many to choose from. Ive often noted down its name when myself, Scott and the crew are on a brain storm for new aircraft. So far no luck but ill keep pitching it!

Back in the Sixties all the publicity was on the U-2. But equally important was the "Black" Canberra. It served as a great recon airplane and had the same equipment as the U-2 such as a bubble sextant a V/H unit and a drift sight. It was replaced by the RB-57 and flew more sorties than the U-2. It was a much easier plane to fly.

Henry, so the upgraded version that you used for your paints is not the one that is available on the Alphasim website now? That one says it is FSX ready, and boasts bump mapping, self-shadowing, etc. in FSX.

The images shown above with your marvelous paints are of a wholly reworked bird?

This is getting odd, the images at the AS site seem to be of the earlier FS9 version.

Dan said he had modified the pilots (to a request I put up about 3 years ago!), but in the shots they look like the old ones, Henry's shots show the modified pilots.

I am not sure of the details I bought this on (not on my current account, that is for sure), so it looks like a new purchase for me, but not until get to the bottom of this oddity of what it looks like.

Thanks for the clarification, Henry. I thought that might be the old one.

Darn! I sure wanted that black repaint.
