I've never seen one and I guess it's unlikely that anyone has made Mk 1 paints for the IX and XIV in the RealAir package. A2A does a quite old but very good Mk 1a for FSX - it only comes with one paint scheme but there are a few others here and at Avsim.

Yeah the A2A MkI is awesome, and I often find my self flying that one over the RealAir version due to the blazing framerates you get with it.

I'll join the list of people recommending the A2A Spitfire I - it's a seriously nice aircraft.

The A2A Sptifire Mk.1 for FSX certainly looks like the real deal.

The model was originally part of the FS9 WWII fighters set and later released as a single model. There is a free fix at the A2A site to make it FSX compatible or even native FSX.

There are repaints done by John 'Bomber_12th' Terell, Stephan 'Epsllon' Pillon, Tony 'TonyG' Greenfeld and last but definitely not least Brian 'RobH' Hill. (Excuses, if I did forget sombody.)

The model is quite nice and the only early Spitfire which has all the FSX options. In FS9 I prefer the AH/Justflight Spitfire, which has a more accurate cockpit.

Cheers,
Huub

For the A2A Spitfire you can fond most repaint here at the SOH.

Repaints by John "Bomber_12th" Terrell:

Repaints by TonyG(reenfeld):

Repaint by Stephan "Epsillon" Pillon:

I have a "Clive Caldwell" repaint as well, most probably done by Jeansey, but I can't remember where I found it....

The lay out for the Just FLight/Aeroplane Heaven Spritfire is very complex. Therefore there aren't that many repaints made for these models. However John "Bomber_12th" Terrell has done some repaints and I did some.

Mine can be found here:

The repaints for the A2A Spitfire are here at SOH - well most of them anyway. Just click the 'Add-Ons Archive' button at the top of this page and search for the authors' names (from Huub's post) under 'Choose Author Name - Archive Library' and you should find them. Look for Letsgetrowdy too, he's done a nice paint of the Shuttleworth Collection Spitfire 1a.

Edit - props to Huub, quicker AND more helpful!

Bruno “Brunosk” Escaravage did some very nice Malta Spitfires for CFS2. which works in FS9. Sopwith Cameleon and RobH did some excellent repaints for these models as well.

They can be found here at the SOH in the file archive.

Cheers,
Huub

Personally I love both the Real Air and A2A Spitfire but If I had to pick one it would be the A2A one, luckily I was able to get Bob Rivera's addon prop textures too which look just amazing and really make a differance to the look of this aircraft!

First of all, the A2A spit is outstanding but it is still missing a few things. Such as repaints for some american squadrons and the eagle squadron.
I am also having some trouble with the repaints that are avaible dont show right. I was wondering if anybody was able to get to work with FSX? I seem to be getting an all black aircraft. How can get them to work?

Hammer353, the FSX version uses different file names.

The fs9 version names are spit1.bmp, spit2.bmp, spit3.bmp and spit4.bmp. To use them in FSX you have to rename them into spit1_t.bmp, spit2_t.bmp, spit3_t.bmp and spit4_t.bmp.
Almost all repaints are done for the FS9 version, therefore in most cases you will have to rename the textures.

When you want to use them in DTX5 dds format you need to flip them as well.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
Huub

And one more thing - make sure you copy the texture.cfg file from the original texture folder (texture.rdc) to any new texture folders you make, otherwise bits of the Spit will be blank. Each new repaint folder just needs the 4 texture files that Huub lists, plus the texture.cfg.

Ok, i did what huub said with the renameing the texture files & adding the texture.cfg. but it still shows up as an all black aircraft. I am doing something wrong?

Hammer353, can you post your aircraft.cfg file and a screenshot of one of the texture folders which doesn't show up?

Below an example of how it should look like with textures in bmp format.

Re Rail Air - i think it was Bob who also created a better texture for the pilot who looks a bit pale otherwise.

I cant post a pic of my folder, but my folder looks just like yours. What should my aircraft.cfg look like?

The relevant bit of mine looks like this...
[fltsim.1]
title=Supermarine Spitfire MK1a DWK N3029
sim=spit
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=dwk
kb_checklists=Spitfire_check
kb_reference=Spitfire_ref
atc_id=N5150
atc_airline=
atc_flight_number=
atc_heavy=0
ui_manufacturer=WWII FIGHTERS
ui_type=Spitfire Mk IA
ui_variation=610 Sq 1940

Does the thumbnail image show up in the aircraft selection screen? If it does you know the cfg is calling the right texture folder and the problem may be the texture file name/format. If the thumbnail DOESN'T show in the selection screen then the cfg may be pointing to the wrong texture folder, or the folder may be mis-named. In my example, the cfg points to a folder called texture.dwk. Hope this helps a bit.

I was finally able to them to work i just had to convert them from .bmp to .dds. I also had to flip each of the repaint textures.
