TPB is basically impossible to shut down at this point, since there is no central server running it.

After US special interest groups pressured the Swedish police into raiding The Pirate Bay's servers a couple of years ago (which only took the site offline for about a day), the site is now spread among several servers all over the world, which makes shutting it insanely difficult.

Plus, the court case is very likely going to be retried, since the judge overseeing it is a member of a couple of pro-copyright groups, which is a massive and obvious conflict of interest.
