SkyUnlimited Productions is pleased to announce the upcoming release of it’s FSX version of the WASP piloted AT-6D Texan. The release will be on Saturday, May 23 2009 in co-ordination with the big, Homecoming 2009 celebration, being held at Hangar One, at the National WASP-WWII Museum in Sweetwater, Texas. Plans are being made to have a computer set-up with a large screen projector so that visitors can see the plane in action.

To help raise funds for the museum, all sales of the WASP piloted AT-6D will be handled through the online gift shop of the WASP-WWII museum. Both FS9 and FSX versions of the WASP piloted AT-6D are included in the auto-installer that is being distributed on CD-ROM disks packaged in DVD cases. Technical support will be provided by SkyUnlimited Productions. While a small fee will be paid to SkyUnlimited Productions to cover the cost of duplications, all other monies received will go directly to the National WASP-WWII museum.

The museum and its gift shop can be reached online at:

http://waspmuseum.org

As part of the Homecoming celebration, visiting WASP pilots will be autographing the actual artwork on individual DVD case packaging and these units will be sold as special editions or collector items. Pricing has not yet been determined. Supply of these autographed editions will be very limited.

The FS9 version has been upgraded from the original 2008 release to include the custom gauge set developed for the FSX versions and there are two variants based on the prop model used. A paint kit is included. The FSX version is SDK SP2 compliant. Bump maps, specular shine and self-shadowing are fully implemented. The rear cockpit is fully detailed and animated. Two variants are provided based on prop model used. The FSX WASP piloted version of the AT-6D is very similar to the FSX AT-6D that
was recently reviewed on the Flightsim.com website. Here is a link to that review:

If you have any questions or you have interest in purchasing a copy of
the WASP piloted AT-6D, please post a reply at the SkyUnlimited forum and let us know. This way we’ll have a good idea on how many cd’s we need to make.

This is the artwork for the front cover of the DVD case. Looks like a paperback novel doesn't it. This is the artwork that the WASP will be autographing.

Many of the WASP pilots used seat cushions to give them a boost up as they sat in the AT-6D's cockpit.

Oh man, how cool is this?:medals:

These gals are awesome, and the museum is by my house. I can fly over to Avenger field, and then use the courtesy car (a beat up van) to go check out the museum. I do it from time to time. They're never that busy (Sweetwater is tiny) so they always give guided tours. Many of the tour guides are WASP pilots. These gals are fun to talk to, sassy and they really know their stuff. I'm pretty excited that you guys are doing this. I haven't seen a better cause in a long time.

Thank you very much for helping them out.:ernae:

John has been coming up with a lot of great ideas like this. I guess time will tell how well the community that has supported us over the years will take to these new ideas. He has worked years on these Texans and is practically giving the Wasp Variants away to help raise money for this museum.

John and I have been talking to the Executive Director of the Museum and they now have FSX up and running. Thus far everything is going well and the WASP Product and FSX should be running at the Museum for everyone to enjoy during these events.

Here's a link to the promo video for the WASP piloted AT-6D. The beginning is the same as the 2007 version, and new material has been added for the FSX version. This is my first attempt at using the letterbox format.

Here's a link to an interview with Betty Jo Reed, one of the WASP pictured in Panther's post.

This is where I learned about the WASP having to learn the cockpit layout that is mentioned in the promo video.
