I had the priviledge of seeing them display.
There is amazing precision, like all the best airshow teams.
But there is more: they have an extra dose of imagination and flair as well.

you've summed it up very well. The maneuvers of the red arrows are a little more imaginative than everyone else. I still like the blue angels the best, because they are incredibly good and fly super-high performance aircraft, but there's no doubt that those two teams are each others only competition.

It has been my privilege to See the Red Arrows on many occasions, back to the time when they flew the tiny Folland Gnat.

Some of you may have seen a clip, posted here a while ago, of a low flying Spitfire nearly giving the commentator a haircut and
eliciting a string of profanities. The pilot of the Spitfire was the late Ray Hannah (he died last year). He was in the very first Red
Arrows team (Gnats) and became Red leader the following year.
