I have an extra VGA cable kicking around here, and a DVI to VGA adapter too. Last night on a whim I took the 32in LCD tv out of the rec room and plunked it on my computer desk and hooked it up as my computer monitor. I have to say, sitting three feet in front of a 32 in "monitor" flying FSX at max settings is sweet. The resolution of my TV only goes up to 1360x760 so I had to turn FSX down from my usual 1680x1050, but not only did it still look terrific I had a bit of extra headroom to turn everything up to max including the water, 4x supersampling and all that. Very, very nice and a view big enough you have to look around to appreciate. This set up with a TrackIR would be awesome.

I'd use the TV in there permenantly for FSX, but it would be missed in the rec room pretty quickly unfortunately. As it is though, I've got it set up so I can unplug the xbox etc, lug it in and connect it to the computer in less than 5min so that's not a big deal. Thankfully it's not heavy.

Not sure I can go back to flying on a 21 inch monitor again. :) Anyone else flying on a big TV/monitor?

I hear ya. I have a 57" 1080 I projection tv that I want to hook into my system, but the wife kinda frowns on me wheeling it back to the pc!

I couldn't sit that close to a screen that big. I tested a bunch of moniters and wound up getting a 24-in wide-screen monitor, which for me is almost too wide, but the view is tremendous. Native res is 1920 X 1280 and I love it.

Doing repaints has never been easier either, the big screen helps a lot.

...with that 1920x1200 screen resolution, are you using a Mac and a Cinema Display to run FSX by any chance? And if so, what are your Mac specs, and how does it work with FSX?

you could pick up another tv at a pwn shop, or off of craig's list.

I'm running a 30" Dell 3008WFP monitor @ 2560x1600 on my main pc...and sit a couple of feet away from it. On pc's 2&3 i've them connected to 47" LCD TV's @ 1920x1080. :)
You'll get a much better picture if you run a HDMI cable from the tv to your pc/notebook (you might need a HDMI-DVI adapter though).

Make me envious. I am a PC man, but I would almost sell my youngest son for one of the Mac monitors, best picture you could ever want. Feng had me drooling looking at his 30-in. Mac monitor.

My 24-in WS is in a 16:10 format, not 16:9 as in HD TV, ergo the 1920 X 1200 display. The connection is digital, not VGA. If you have seen my screens here, limited to 1600 X 1299 by Photobucket, you will see that resolution is superb. I am using a PC, Vista 64-bit, AMD dual-core 3.4, 4 GB Corsair memory sticks, two SLI nVidia 8800 GTS cards.

I built this tower by myself, acquiring the tower and all hardware and software purchased at Tiger Direct.

BTW, for those using wide-screen moniters regardless of size, it is advised that you edit this line in your FSX.cfg:
