I believe so.... Last week I was running integrated Nvidia 6150SE graphics with 64 MB of VRAM (it had one gig but none of it was useable, it was for Hybrid SLI) Man... Xplane SUCKED! all low settings and still only got about 10 FPS. Then, I got my BFG 9600 GT OC2. WOW! BIG IMPROVEMENT. All settings maxed at around 50 FPS! Based on my findings, X-plane is a 20/80 split. 20% CPU and 80% GPU.

Before upgrade-------------------------
-Processor--AMD athlon X2 64 4800+ 2.5 GHz dual core
-GPU--Crap as mentioned above.
-HDD--320 gig
-Monitor-- Mag Inovision 15" anolog crappy thing
-PSU--250Watt thing
Crysis-- not even attempted
XP9-- ouch!

After Upgrade--------------------------
-Processor--Same
-GPU-- BFG Nvidia 9600GT OC2 W/ Cuda tech or something like that.
-HDD-- Same
-Monitor-- Dell S2209W 22" Widescreen HD LCD @ 1920x1080 (1080P)
-PSU--BFG tech EX550 @ 550 Watts
Crysis-- Max at 8x AA = 30-40 FPS
XP9-- All maxed out 16x AA =45-50 FPS

Thanks Idancesafetydance for the heads up on that.

Very good to know.

From what the techs and gurus are saying at X-Plane home forums, ATI just cant run XP9. Nvidia runs it like silk.. Many angry ATI owners.

I am one of the ATI owners. My iMac has a ATI GPU in it. But they came out with a powerful nVidia GPU for it a couple of months ago. Saving my pennies up now. :d

no offense but I'd hardly call that 6150 a video card.....

All they do is slap a 6150 in people's office computers so Windows will display 1024x768 in 32 bit color...that's about the power of the 6150...

So you went from VW beetle to a Ferrari F450....

Ive been blown away X-plane with my athlon phenom quad and 9600GT 1gig ddr3. GPU based I would agree with you as my 1 gig 8500gt hated X-plane. Ive been a happy nvidia user since 1999 and athlon. Best combo i found. I just blew up a i7 comp of mine using x-plane, that comp i rebuild to Athlon/Nvidia and now it roars. No more meow Intel chip:rocket: for me
