Hey all,

I need some input and advice from the experts here.

As usual I haven't planned ahead for the following event: http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/images/smilies/SushiSmilies/whistling.gif

It's my wife's birthday tomorrow and she'd like an MP3 Player or an iPod for her birthday. She would like to listen to music during her walks and while she's completing paperwork at work in her office. She also has podcast type video/voice thingy's to listen to for her Master's classes.

I haven't kept up with this technology the past year so I'm looking for suggestions. I don't believe she'd like a video player but I may be wrong.

My son purchased an Apple iPod last year, I believe it may have been the iPod Nano, I can't remember!

Yes, price is a concern but my sweet wife is worth it. http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/images/smilies/SushiSmilies/flowers.gif She worked almost 130 hours in the last two-week pay period (she's an RN @ the local hospital)!!

I have no brand loyalty or adversion.

Thanks,

Kevin http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/images/smilies/SushiSmilies/mrgreen.gif

Myself, I bought a Samsung YP-Q1 last Boxing Day and I like it a lot. alright battery life, voice recording, video playback, great radio, photos... pretty much anything you can imagine. I beleive podcast works, but i've never used it.
The only two drawbacks: you have to convert WMV music files to MP3. The other thing is all videos have to be converted using the software that comes with it.
AND its slightly cheaper than an Ipod, I paid about $100 Canadian for it.

Here's a link: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=homeentertainment&type=mp3digitalaudio&subtype=yp_q1&model_cd=YP-Q1JEB/XEU

Hope this helps!

I couldn't live without my iPod Touch... it does so many cool things from watching traffic cams, surfing the web, email, videos, pictures, facebook, dictionary, thesarus, weather, games, flight sims, takes notes, shopping lists, maps, books, phone books, storing files, database of all my DVDs (owned and wishlist), and something else that I'm forgetting....

Oh YEAH! It plays tunes. :)

Can't wait for summer when they update the OS and Bluetooth finally works!

Kevin I brought Linda a Ipod >> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855101163 she loves it to death. I also had her car wired for it too. Apple only charges a buck per song . She also has downloaded some videos and picture of grand kids and our vacations. Well worth the money.

Go for the Apple iTouch! I absolutely LOVE mine!!! Everywhere I go, I take it with me! I use it when I work out or go for walks. I take it to the office and plug it in my PC and I can listen to music in my office. Never had a problem with it. Well worth the $$$$ :)

Update:

This is what I purchased for her birthday gift: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10542367

Yes, she likes pink. It surprised me too!!

She has the option to upgrade to this: http://www.walmart.com/iPod-Touch-8GB-2nd-Generation/ip/10542374

Our daughter just purchased the iTouch and my wife is interested in using it at work also. SilverFox, Moe and Clound9Gal thanks for the ideas and advice on the iTouch.

I'll give it to her tonight after we go out to eat at a local Mexican restuarant, The Anchor Inn. :woot:
