:kilroy:Hey guys, I was just mindin' my own business at the O-Club one night, when the CO wanted me to drop off some buddies of his and their gear behind enemy lines.

He said, all I had to do was taxi to the runway, take off, look for some pretty red lights on the ground, drop off these "joes" and some supply containers, dodge a little flak, and come on back home.

All in a night's work.

This mission is part of the optional FirePower_USAAF_Heavy_Bombers_2eto pack for ETO. You need ETO updated to 1.20 and these four folders copied into the ETO aricraft folder from your FirePower install: B_17_share, b_17f, B_17G, and B_24J.

Ya gotta be careful goin' in, though. It's mostly uphill goin' in. Ya might just kiss the ground if'n yer not very careful!

Enjoy.:d

:kilroy:Hey, Guys,

A funny thing happened the day before Operation Dragoon began.

Several things, actually.

This French P-47 pilot shot down a flying boat, splattered a troop column, plastered a train, and swatted a Storch. All in one day.:d

Great screenie Nonato, that's my favourite little corner of the ETO! Spifires at Standby, Hawkinge 1940. The grouping of the aircraft is based on an old photo I have.

(Btw to be hisorically accurate you ought to be using a Hurricane without the band on the rear fuselage, that came in in Dec 1940)

Keep em coming! :ernae:

I must admit I've not got the hang of how to use "spawn selector" and "ETO Start". Also no matter what I try I can't see to find any of the new Spit skins that were added. All I can see is the stock CFS3 one. Even in Quick combat there's no Spit in the British menu?

And I've never found this screen, what and where is it? What's it for?

http://s48.radikal.ru/i119/0903/4b/8c33236a0274.jpg

Obviously I don't understand how to start this game up, can someone help?

grizzly50
March 20th, 2009, 20:22
:kilroy:Vogelscheuche, that screen doesn't exist in ETO yet.

As for ETO operation, look to this thread: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=13340, Post #11.

Look at your QC aircraft list. Look for the little arrowheads at the top and bottom at the left side of the list. Clicking on that bottom arrowhead takes you to the next page. Click it again on the new list page, and it will take you to yet another page. Anytime the aircraft on the list go all the way to the bottom of the page, there are probably more planes on the next page.

Good luck, and if you have any problems, just let us know.:d

March 20th, 2009, 21:06
Oh thanks. That post sheds a lot of light on what to do to start this up. Many thanks for the info.

My only question now would be.. Which spawn do you select for ETO start: Summer 1940 - Year End 1942 Battle of Britian - Era 2

Seems that post covers it all except this.

rbp71854

Sorry about that I threw a wringer into my post. This selector may or may not get into the ETO. Its function will be to move in and out facilties files based upon when they are present or not present during the course of the year/era. So as the Allies occupy once held Axis terrritory new forward bases can be changed, removed or added as the year/era progresses.

how does one take a pic ,,,lol

:kilroy:Loverboy1, use the key combination Ctrl + ; (the :/; key, to the right of the letter "L" on your keyboard).

The screenshot should be in the appropriate CFS3 installation folder (Combat Flight Simulator 3.0, CFS3 ETO Expansion, etc) located in your My Documents folder. That's for XP, and I can't say if that's right for Vista.

Set your shot, hit "P" for Pause.

Ctrl + Shift + L turns the Labels on/off.

Ctrl + Shift + I (the letter "I" on your keyboard) turns the Targeting Indicator on/off.

I (the letter "I") toggles the Cone on/off.

Shift + D turns the Word Display (the words that tell you if you hit someone, are hit by someone, or if something has been destroyed) on the top middle of your screen on/off.

Shift + T toggles the TAC Screen (radar) on/off.

F5 toggles the HUD on/off.

Z toggles the Flight Information (words in red at upper left-hand corner of the screen) on/off.

Usefull Views:

F3 puts you inside the cockpit.

F4 cycles Virtual Cockpit View, Spot View, Chase View, and Player/Target View.

When in Player/Target View, pressing Ctrl + Shift + F4 gives Target/Player View, from the point of view of the target. Player/Target View still reads as "Player/Target View" on your screen, though.

Shift + F6 toggles Float View on/off.

Shift + F9 toggles Flyby View on/off.

The two keys "[" and "]" Zoom out/in.

Using the nine number keys on your Number Pad will rotate, elevate, and depress the angle in Spot View and Chase View.

Sorry, can't do anything about the white words on the screen, other than by photo-cropping, as far as I know.

Experiment a bit. Good luck and have fun.:d

It takes -18.0 (minus 18.0 approx. depending on airspeed) trim just to approach level flight and no amount of trim keeps her stable...
You 1st notice it on take off as you power up to lift the tail, instead she's airborne too soon and heading for a severe stall... ...a real handful IMHO :help:

Capt. Winters
April 9th, 2009, 20:18
Hi FS,

when you download the ETO there is a second download that you use in conjunction with Firepower. basically you copy the FP B24 to your ETO and then the patch makes a whole heap of standalones of it, applies ETO weapons and effects etc.

and installs all the missions into the correct ERA. theres a detailed readme file included that explains what to do. takes about 5 minutes. But you need to have a copy of Firepower 1.08 to use this.

The Chain Home Radar towers and buildings were courtesy of Mark Rude.

They actually stretch round the west coast as well but here the facilities are not historically accurate as both the design of the towers and the buildings were different relying more on dispersion than on physical hardening.
