Can anyone recommend a video card for me that will work the best with X-Plane? Current system: q9450@3.6, 6gigs ram, 8800gt, vista64.

I am thinking 3870 w/1gig or gtx260 :

What kind of increase could I expect?

If you are going 4870 I highly suggest the ICE version....

I would imagine that X-Plane is CPU intensive as FSX is..But do not know that for sure...

you said 3870 but linked to a 4870

Your CPU along with any 3870-4870-or GTX 260 will be good..

Actually, you might want to check it and see how the Demo runs it. I am pretty sure it will run smoothly already on your existing system.

Austin doesnt make this for systems that do not exist yet. Your existing rig should run it fine.

I should also recommend that you not think of this sim as a comparisson with FSX. It has FSX qualities, like autogen and things, but its totally different. It uses OpenGL for its graphics instead of DirectX. DirectX has bombed lately. OpenGL has always been easy on rigs and GC's. Try the Demo and load up (max out) the graphics settings and see if you even need to update your rig.

Actually I already have XP-9 but like lots of eye candy and it brings my system to its knees when everything is set on high.

I have decided to go with the gtx260 due to OC ability/performance.
Thanks for the input.

Your CPU along with any 3870-4870-or GTX 260 will be good.. X-plane is a 40/60 split... 50% processor and 60% GPU.
