i was trying out the dive bomb training mission and i'm not getting any prompts as to what to do. am i supposed to? for instance, it doesn't tell me to actually bomb the factory, and after i strafe the airfield several times, it still doesn't tell me to return to base. am i just supposed to fly around until i get these prompts?

not to worry.........you'll have a mission directive at the start of the mission that'll describe your target.....during the mission itself you're on your own more or less... the tac display will help guide you to target with a blue line and a purple tag on the target itself which'll help you get there, line up your target, and hit it......you'll get a voice prompt which tells you "you got a kill" if you nailed the target but that's it....are you playing a raw CFS 3....lot's of good stuff here.....bit of long learning curve and add-on hill to climb........but totally worth it....this is the place ask

thanks guys. how much damage do i have to do when i strafe that airfield? i strafed it a few times, then i went back to base and landed, but it still said one more goal remaining. also, does anyone have any tips on how to not get hit by ground flak fire? i can't seem to get anywhere without getting shot down, so i've been trying missions with player invincibility on just to get the hang of completing the goals...which i still can't seem to get right!

Hello JZFan,

You say your cfs3 is raw, you should at least have the 3.1 and the 3.1a updates from MS. If you don't have them, you can get them here.

If you are feeling ambitious try these marvelous addons that improve the game immensely! Better aircraft, scenery, effects, buildings, etc.

for me i review the damage % in and around target- or targets

if goes down ot zero ,,,thats done , so say the missions is attack a farmer barn - its got 100% you and your boys attacked and is at 20% youll need more attacks ,,,,,zero wins

Hi Jayzfan, given that it is a dive bombing mission, do you know how to select your bomb, then how to release it?

also, do you choose a loadout before starting to fly the mission? You should have a range of ordinance depending on the aircraft.

Depending upon your aircraft, there may also be a bomb-aimers position, where you can use bomb sights (if you can't seem 'em after selecting F7, then use F3 to see the bombsights).

IIRC there is a specific tutorial in cfs3 - maybe in the "manuals" folder? for dive bombing.

thanks alot guys :)
i know that you start the mission with a p-47 which doesn't have a bomb sight, but i'm not sure if a) you can change the aircraft or b) you can change the number of bombs you get. i can't remember right now if the change is possible

also, if i have to reduce the damage meter to 0%, i don't think i ever will be able to! especially if i only get the two bombs.

any further help would be appreciated :)

can you actually get a bombsight view on EVERY plane?

can you actually get a bombsight view on EVERY plane?
Nope, only if it is specifically modelled - as far as I know, only for those aircraft that are level or tactical bombers - if you look at the aircraft's xdp file (which you can view using MS Notepad) you will find there are various types, fighter, fighter bomber, level bomber, tactical bomber.

When you think about it, the bomb aimer's position is for someone other than the pilot, so the aircraft needs to have at least two aircrew
cheersh (its beer o'clock now)
