Hi all, since the old thread went kaput I'm bringing it back to life. The patch is pretty much done. I just need to write documentation, make a self extracting archive, and get permission from blade. Heres the list of changes so far:

- Obio's replacement raindrop; no more 5 gallon rain drops. [LINK (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=11483)]

- Kelticheart's props; the stock props looked fuzzy and we all know Kelti's props are masterpieces. [LINK (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=7222)]

- zawidzki1's historically accurate VC gunsights; Do you want these, yes? no? [LINK (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=1229)]

- Pen32Win's prioritized ship DPs; Now your AI buddies (or enemies) will go after the capital ships. [LINK (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=8532)]

- Blade's Realistic CFS2 Effects Collection V.2.0; EFFECTS & TEXTURES ONLY. I did not include, or change the "[Effects.##]" sections of any DPs, I was planning on doing this but I'm sure sooner or later you will install an addon that will change the DPs and most of the new effects show up anyways so it seemed futile to do so. If you want the DPs, landing light oildrums, nibbio's soldiers, or the harder to sink ship DPs then you will need to install them manually. [LINK (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=archive&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=553)]

Does anyone object to anything added? Does anyone have any other suggestions for things to add?

One nice U.S. Flak Gun plus the much improved dp's for the other Anti Aircraft gun arsenal of CFS2. Oh yea...there's an update for this package, for the camo net. :kilroy:

Dv,

I'll take a look at adding that in, I always used that package in my installs. Everything Pen32Win does is magical. :isadizzy:

Weird, it says JD edited my post for "wrong link"... The ghost of the old database has come to haunt us.

JIMKO's Pacific Blues...

Pacific_Blues - ACM Mix

Contains "Pacific_Blues" water and shore textures by JIMKO.

Included are "foamy wave" white-caps never released, and "double-breaker" shore and shallow water from a previous "Pacific_Blues" release.

All Credit, …and Thanks, …go to JIMKO.

Corsair, are you looking at a max file size? cuz I'd like to suggest clouds as well and a new moon.

And I like BD's idea of water and land textures.

And then there's Rami's campaign rebuilds with all the infastructure and airfield upgrades, all of the add ons especially the infrastructure are somewhat standardized for the ETO ,OST and MTO repectively

Maybe a TOLUG (top of the line up grade) package 1,2,3 etc. or maybe a theatre specific collection or.....

Ok, Ok, I'm rambling, I'll shut up now.....:d

Hi guys,

while I have played around with the idea of doing a ginormous theatre specific package, I've tried to set the patch up so it can be used for ALL theatres. It would be nearly impossible to get everyone to agree on what addons are absolute "must haves" for specific theatres, and even then you would have to find a website that would host the file. Not to mention that the some kind of huge CFS3 ETO packae was the cause of the database crash.

If I put a Pacific texture set it won't look too good if someone installs it into their ETO, EF, or MTO install. As far as clouds go, there are so many different variations that I'm sure not everyone uses the exact same cloud textures.

Everyone has their own opinion on what they think is best, thats why I try not to put any add-ons that are that way. I was a little reluctant to even add Blade's effects pack into the patch because LouieG's effects aren't bad either (not to mention the most downloded CFS2 files), but 3 or 4 people requested Blade's pack to be added so I added it.

Corsair... I Know you are doing a great task... but If you ask me... I prefer Pacific PTO..., scenry... I know some simmers like cfs2 for Europe... , I use CFS3, for ETO, Maw, but to make a simple updated patch of CFS2..., please PTO scenery....
Thanks for all

Maps of all the theaters , or where to find them might be handy.

Corsair I think MAULET is right. I do not have a true favorite Theater but I believe the ETO has had a liitle to much attention lately and Pacific needs a little refreshment. Then latter you can do one for the ETO.

Its just my opinion!

Thank you CF!:jump:

Is it too late to peer back into this thread for a collection of PTO files along the lines of most bang for the buck maybe?

I just recently rediscovered CFS2 is still alive and well after I thought it died when the Zone went down a few years ago. This time however I have realized it's potential though.

(Yeah I'm addicted to it too..lol!)

If I may throw my 2 cents in here. I appreciate your work but it is impossible to please everyone. As I was once told if you try to please all you will please noe one, but if possible why not Three (3) effects packages ie;ETO,MTO,PTO specific. That way the choice could be the downloader.

If you try to do the whole world you are letting yourself in for a tremendous amount of work. I'd suggest sticking with the PTO except for some things that would apply anywhere such as clouds, moon and stars. Maybe somebody else could help with the other theaters. Would it be feasable to replace the stock aircraft?

Thank you very much for your work and your kind praises, Corsair Freak!

If I may, please do not include my old generic replacement prop discs, because they are quite outdated and full of errors, that I corrected over the years. At least, I am happy that the link you proposed above is broken and it'll keep anyone from downloading that garbage, of which I cannot take credit without feeling quite uncomfortable!

When I first released them, I was under the impression that "one" could "fit all". Nothing further from the truth.

I made this comment several times before, prop disc sizes vary greatly from one designer to the next one. Often times, within the same designer's production.

What happens when the disc texture is too wide? The polygonal edges of the aircraft mdl prop disc are displayed. Ugly, no correspondence with real life where prop discs are, and must be, perfectly round.

What happens when the disc texture is too small? Another hideous effect happens. The disc appears as if it were shrinking after the simulator goes from spinning prop blades to displaying the blurred disc. In other words, the prop disc outer circumference is smaller than the length of the prop blades. Another thing that simply cannot be real.

The latter was the trigger that sparked all of my prop disc work. I noticed it happening in stock aircraft prop discs and I started toying with it until I discovered it could be overcome.

All of this explanation to stress that each aircraft model needs a "custom-made" propeller blurred disc. There's no way out of it, otherwise all efforts to enhance the immersion factor experience with sceneries, historical repaints, historically accurate payloads, sim effects, campaigns and everything else that was developed in 14 years of CFS2 existence, would be degraded by a single, bad looking prop disc.

As announced several times, I am putting together a replacement texture library which will cover all known and most widely used addon aircrafts for CFS2, including the most popular conversions of WWII military models developed for MS civilian sims.

I have been working at it since last May, it's a huge project because I want to offer more than one version for each prop disc texture. My original project was for a single library, but it got so huge with every new addition that I had to break it down. Now it's broken down to Allied and Axis aircrafts, but it'll have to be downsized even further.

Breaking it down to WWII operational theatres seems to be logical, but I am afraid that I'll have also to break it down to single Air Forces, killing somewhat my original plan to get everything with one single download, without having to go searching long and wide to find a single prop disc texture!

Cheers!
