I just saw a list of the blogs of MS designers at had a look at all of them. They're all very interesting and have stuff to say about FSX. Take a look and maybe they can answer some of your questions. ;) Who knows, maybe if ya keep wathcing they might let us know when exactly FSX is coming out....:mixedsmi:

Was wondering if anyone has seen the X-Plane Sim with it's 7 layer DVD-60 gig scenery package and how this will compare with FSX. My brother has X-Plane and says it's unbelievable. Trevor

Snippet from Mike Gilbert's blog:

"Lastly, here are some answers to your questions:

Why the hell was an xbox controller used to demo the product?
Because it kicks ass! I've already put my joystick away in the closet. The Xbox controller is awesome with Flight Sim!"

Hmm...

The reason it is called Flightsim "X"??

Just my opinion as a humble pilot type; to achieve an experience replicating flight, one must have controls that approach those used in the actual aircraft. The closer one comes to that control environment the closer one can come to approximating the skills needed in flight, past and present.

Flying is a very analogue skill, requiring smoothness and great anticipation.

Like you Henry, did learn my Roman Numerals once upon a time...

Just pok'n a little fun at e'm, but if they were to go this (X-box) route (unfortunatly possible) it might indeed be a FS"X".

Remember that the xbox controller has dual analog sticks. So while the form factor is "game-ey," it's not a bad option.

Know where it might be a good choice? Helicopters. Two analog sticks is a better simulation of a stick and collective than a stick/throttle combo, no?
