View Full Version : Wind Tunnel Model

I was sent these pics of wind tunnel models a while back. The large one is related to an early jet that I've always been fascinated with. I'd thought I'd posted these pics, but a search didn't turn up any hits on them..
A :icon29: to anyone who knows what aircraft this model was for. A bag of chips to go with the :icon29: if you can tell the relative (easy enough if you can get the newer version that the models were for :d )
EDIT: Helps to attach the pics.... :redf:

Willy,
I think we're talking the Argentinian I.A.33 Pulqui here, nest-ce pas ? One of Prof Tank's little marvels. It was preceded by the I.A. 27, which had unswept wings, if that's what you are referring to ?

:icon29: to Lefty. The Pulqui II was a redesign of Tank's Focke Wulf Ta 183 Huckebein which never made it off paper. 5 prototypes were built, but when the Peron regime came out of power in Argentina, interest was lost in further development and production was never began. Interesting aircraft that had performance similar to the early F-86 and Mig 15s.
The Pulqui I was a Dewoitine design and other than name was unrelated to the Pulqui II.

Hey Willy! after I've readed this thread, I remembered I had some pics of the Pulqui. I went to Argentina a few years ago and visited the Museum, and among others, I took this pics to the Pulquis.

A :icon29: to anyone who can tell what that brownish winged contraption is hanging from ceiling in the background of both of Windrunner's pics.

Must be a model for the I.A. 38 El Naranjero ? A Horten clone.

:icon29: for Lefty... Yep, it's a Horten flying wing glider, but I couldn't remember the exact model number. I found it while researching the Pulqui II.
I found it interesting that a Horten would be in the same museum with a Tank re-design of the Ta 183. But then again a lot of the pro-Nazi Germans bailed to Argentina at the end of WWII.
