Its you. The screenshots are spectacular!

Prowler you're right, they have got a fish eye look on the close ups and as beautiful as the screen shots are, that's enough to not use it.
I don't have a ghost of an idea why they use that device, nobody likes it. It's too bad. It could have been a next generation of Flight Sim but like CFS3 they let special effects ruin it.

Why are you obsessing over this? There are a few shots that look like it, but the rest are fine. If youre going to let a 'fisheye' lens stop you from buying it, then you clearly have no desire to get it anyways.

I think MS are just using wide angle panoramic shots to show off as much of the environment they can, much the same way a photographer would.

I can some times get that "fish eye" to appear in CFS2, but only when I zoom out as far as it will go.

But wow do those shots look nice! Wonder why system it will need? I can get that kind of water in IL2 with ease.

Guys before everyone gets bent out of shape on the supposed "fisheye" view, wait till it comes out to confirm. In FS9 you have this view also, but it isn't default. Just took this to prove it, go to the views tab, view options, lower the distance to you aircraft, hit ok, then back out till your whole aircraft is in view, VIOLA, FISHEYE!

I think the new FSX shots look outstanding!!

well...to my behalf: i never said the pics werenŽt beautifull, in fact some of them are atonishing, BUT it looks like the planes got the fisheye lens views, i know you can get that kind of view on fs9, just saying that too many pics makesme suspicious. Anyway, iŽll be getting it regardless Best regards Prowler

Looking closely at the screenshots I hate to say this but it looks like they are using some of what was introduced in CFS3. There is definely a fisheye look from certain angles but it doesn't seem quite as magnified as it is in CFS3. The background and scenery also has a similar look to CFS3 but improved. It will take some time and some more screenshots to really see what FSX will be like.

Looks like it is there but doesn't seem as bad as CFS3. Hopefully it is there because of the zooming level used.

wonder it it means no 2D panels ??

In some of the shots it (the dreaded fish-eye) was really apparent and then in other shots it looked fine. Guess we'll have to wait and see. But if it is there, me money stays in me pocket.
I would have liked to have seen some high altitude shots too, hoping something has been done about the tileing effect. Seeing as how all the screen shots are low level VFR I fear we'll be flying over more kitchen floor looking scenery.

In some of the shots it (the dreaded fish-eye) was really apparent and then in other shots it looked fine. This is also true in CFS3, certain angles look normal whereas other angles show an over magnified 3-D effect.

I sure hope this isn't the case because that was the single thing I disliked the most about CFS3. The effect makes a simulator seem like an arcade game and less like a simulator. You would think after the community not liking the fisheye effect in CFS3 Microsoft would try to make it less noticable. Maybe its part of their new game engine developed in CFS3?

Nothing's been confirmed or denied in this area....

The so called "fish eye" effect seen in the FSX screens is just from zooming out...

Cheers,

Thanks Jason. I wish CFS3 had an adjustable external camera like FS has. They could've added it during a single lunch break but alas... ;-)

Fisheye? Not. Maybe a wideangle view but not a fisheye...AEP+FB+PF..water does look awesome if you edit the files and click on perfect but the rest of the GAME looks weak..the skins, the clouds, the senery from alt. and the FM bites.I got it to fly with a fiend of mine..would be ok if the FM was better and not an "Olig Special". A little background on myself...Been flying on small planes,on a day to day basis, since I was a baby.Flew across the pacific on a Flying Tigers Air Service Connie, when I was 9(1966). I have flown on,DC-4's,Air America C-123s,Global Assoc's DHC4's,DC-10's,707's,DC-8's, L1011's,CAT 727's,737's,747,DC-3's,DC-9's-MD-83's,kingairs even got an incentive ride in a F-4E....know I am forgetting some of the puddle jumpers...Thank god none of these planes behaved like any of the planes in the IL2 series.

I think Oleg and Crew have great capabilities, but for whatever reasons are in a position where they have to cave in to a lot of outside forces, whether it be Ubisoft or the fanboy crowd.

To their (sometimes) credit they do a continual product improvement. The F4U, with which I am familiar and have done numerous FM's did get improved to where it was flyable. My biggest complaint was that it seemed the continual changing charcteristics of th planes stemmed more from what was currently percieved as either a 'uberplane' or as being 'porked' without regards to a best and steady attempt at realism.

Maybe that wasn't the point.

This is actually a FS10 (coming eventually) forum, we have a seprate PF etc forum.

Yes you can get a fisheye look in FS9 with the default view as described earlier and I'm fairly certain that the pictures you see with this in FSX are purely for artistic effect, for those of us that like it :wavey:

The "Fish eye" view from CFS 3 I thought gave some spectacular opportunities for screen shots.
