Can someone please explain how to do this without causing problems?

Also how to change uires pix to reflect the eto (and where to get some)?

Thanks.

Rich12545,

UIRES screens can be found easily, look under Ajax.

There are others as well.

Ah, plenty there.

And how can I delete the pto aircraft in eto?

Rich;
I believe that you go to the Info folder and remove the desired aircraft but then ensure that the same aircraft is removed from the mdl.txt. Before you remove ANY stock aircraft check that none of your desired planes are "aliased" to that removed aircraft.
It is simple really to make a seperate folder titled " engine sounds"( or whatever) and just download all the sounds necessary for the ETO aircraft. Lawdog has a ample supply of sounds available here. There is also a extensive list of aricraft and engines used by Rami in this forum. Find it and print it out and use it as a guide for setting up your "sounds" folder.
Labor intensive so schedule some PDW (Professional Day Waster) time to do it.

No problem. I'm retired so every day is a PDW. :wiggle:

I give up. Where is the mdl.txt? Can't find it anywhere and even did a search.

The mdlnames.txt is in the main, or "root" CFS3 folder.

ok, it looks like a new qc_plane.qcb file will be needed. Is that right?

Rich: You must ensure the A/C you remove are NOT included in the qc_plane.qcb in the QUICKCOM folder in the sim. If you are using a quick combat editor, remove them from the quick combat list, and them remove them from the aircraft folder. Try a few at a time first. You can open up the file with wordpad, its not rocket science.

If you are not using a quick combat editor you can remove or add A/C by hand, a little laborious, especially if you are not used to keying entries in. You must be EXACT, computers expect perfection for keyed entries. If you decide to try it, make a copy of the qc_plane.qcb and edit that one. You can put the original back in if you have problems. Check the entire file - you will find an aircraft entered 5 times if it is the original CFS2 one.

I believe there is a QC editor in the CFS2 download section. I'll look, unless someone beats me to it.

Good Luck, we all have been where you are. My 6 current installs only have all the Pacific A/C in just 1!

The mods people have made are just amazing. I found a whole collection of vb aircraft for the eto and plan to add some of those for qb.

Not being very computer literate, I just deleted the airfiles of the PTO aircraft and Bob is your mothers brother. Said aircraft no longer appeared in the QC and Freeflight menus, but the program could still find them.

Another simple solution...change the name of the A/C's texture folder.
TEXTURE to TEXTURE1 for example.

Hi all,
Before you remove the a/c remember that nearly all the US a/c can be used with different skins in Europe.
Hellcat,Wildcat,P38,Avenger,C47,B25 and B24 were all used in Europe and the Med.Skins for these can be found at the major flightsim sites. Not sure about the Corsair though.
For the Wildcat look for Martlet and for the Avenger look for Tarpon.

Some real good ideas here. I'll be doing this in the next day or so.

The Fleet Air Arm did operate some Corsairs in the ETO. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Germans captured one that force landed somewhere in occupied Europe (Norway?).

Yes Corsairs were used in raids against Norway. IIRC some were in service and used for escort duty during Operation 'Tungsten'

Finally got some time to do this. Took out pto aircraft and deleted references in mdl and qb files. Put in a couple of vb eto aircraft. When going to free flight I got error messages that it can't find certain files relating to the aircraft in the library. Does anyone know what's up with this and how to fix it?

Are you missing weapons?

There seems to be two types of German gunpods and tanks missing on the bf109 from vb. Are there better eto aircraft to include that don't have missing parts? Or do I need to download the extra parts for each airplane separately?

Figured it out. Found a vb weapons file.
