Was going to post over on the scenery forum but figured i'd try here,
At the moment, im making up my own macro for my scenery projects using EOD, and im using textures from digital photos, whats bugging me is, i cant get the finnish'd project as clear as i'd like. The photos are of pretty good quality and stay pretty sharpe when resized with PSP to 256-256 pixels.
but in the final build most of the detail is lost, ive seen some pretty good photo-real macro, use some myself by Ralf-j trieble, Cees donker's has made up some ggod stuff too, are there any tips, incressing pixel size or decressing, that sort of thing.
any input most welcome, cheers ian

Hi Ian
256-256 pixels is a bit on the skimpy side,512X512 will give you better looking Image 1024X1024 wll give you the best but is a FPS killer .Also removing mipmaps will give you a clearer Image as it shows the same image no matter how far you are from the object, but alas at a slight FPS hit If you have multiple objects getting them feeding from the same texture will help, example a single 1024X1024 texture used for mapping an entire base will be better than multiple 256X256 textures.Ive never used EOD so Im not sure how it textures objects.

Food for thought, i'll experiment with upping the pixel size.
