Downloaded one of David Copeley's P-38s for FS2004. Unfortunately, CFS2 says it cannot read the mdl file. Is there a way to convert the .mdl?

If not possible, can anyone suggest a good P-38J/L out there?

You can try this:

Mk_MDL.V2 (http://thefreeflightsite.com/Mk_Mdl_Ver_2%5B1%5D.0+.zip) Aircraft MDL convertion utility, 2004,2002 to CFS2 by Ivan Hsu

Thanks for the great link, but fudge. This won't run on a 64-bit OS. Anyone out there have a converted mdl they could loan to me? ( P-38J ).

David Copley's P-38F/G/H/J have already been converted for CFS2 and are available here at SOH. Search "Copley" with the library's search engine.

If you only need the J version, I recommend you the conversion and skins made by Morton:
