Q42006 Works perfect for me. No need for me to upgrade to 64bit now, so therefore by the time Q42006 rolls around, the currently expensive Athlon 64 FX-55 should be a much more affordable few hundred bucks cheaper...;)

Whew :) Good news and a much more sensible release date - scheduled to upgrade in Q4 anyway.

Q42006 ??

Is that late 2006????

An interesting notion that people involved in the soft wear industry wish to rewrite the English language Stiz.
They've been rewriting it since scientists closed ranks and used Latin names to describe plants, animals, elements and more latterly invented a newer arbitrary mix of bit of language to hide the bleedin' obvious in electronics and soft wear.

Why the f*** can't these people say something like "The last three months of 2006"??? I boggle at the thought of the kind of conversations these people have between themselves...perhaps like the invented language twins often develop between themselves to keep the rest of the world out!:icon_eek: :birthday2 :mixedsmi:

Q4 2006 = Fourth Quarter - Oct-Dec. I held my toungue on this, but had a good feeling that something was just slightly amiss!

This is still not an offical announcement from Microsoft so we will all have to wait until we hear a true release date. We have been told many times in the past only offical announcments from Microsoft can be believed. Many sites including SOH have got emails from Microsoft stating they will be making an announcement after the new year about FSX.

The SOH staff's concern is that we can become part of the process of developing and releasing the game again. Besides the one email about the upcoming announcement we still haven't found out who we can contact to get press releases, press kits and evaluation copies for staff previewers.

In the past Combat Flight Center (now part of SOH) was directly involved with the development and release of Combat Flight Simulator and Combat Flight Simulator 2. Some time between the release of Combat Flight Simulator 2 and Combat Flight Simulator 3 we lost our connection to Microsoft.

If any member or Microsoft employee can help us make a connection we believe we can keep the ever growing SOH community informed about developments concerning FSX. Please send us an email if you can direct us to the right person to get back in the Flight Simulator press release loop.

Several Months ago, someone pointed me to a thread at the SimHQ forums where "Bear_Avhistory" (?) had posted a few shots. Apparently, he had been on the beta team for CFS4. He posted a few shots that demostrated some very nice new tech, including things like wings casting shadows on the fuselage, and some nice looking autogen. The thread has since disappeared, but I saved the images.

I just hope my own PC can handle this...

EDIT: Pics removed - see below.

That's CFS4 alpha shots based on an improved CFS3 engine, made a few month before they pulled the plug on it (what again happend just weeks before it was supposed to be released to the beta testers).
The shots have been removed from SimHQ after M$ swung the NDA hammer.

Thanks Mathias, I've pulled the attachments to keep SOH from getting into hot water.

Although... the pics are out there. It's like those topless photos of Alyssa Milano that Entertainment Tonight reported she was claiming were fakes. The truth is that she did a cheesy horror flick called "Embrace of the Vampire" that bordered on soft-core. It's like popping a balloon - once it's done, that's it. I don't see why MS can't just allow the early shots to circulate - they do nothing but show their tech in a favorable light!
