This has been done before many years ago for an SOH member. From the start it has presented one problem after another, mostly due to running Orbx and fighting elevation problems. I have it at a point where it's getting easier to work on and so at some point I will look for volunteers to give it a run and see how badly it performs on various setups. If it presents too many problems it won't be released. I've had enough of releasing things and then trying to put out fires. If it doesn't work that'll be the end of it. I'll use it for my own system and be happy with it.

That looks liek a great little airstrip. Hope you will get it released.

I am even offering to test it when you are ready. I run FSX SE clean, and P3Dv4 with OrbX Global/Vector and most Open LC's

I would love to get copies of any airfields you have built Falcon. Looks just fine to me and any small grass strips updated in upstate NY and or New England is a huge blessing considering what MS passed off as suitable scenery. And thank you in advance if you decide to post White Birch.

What a great looking little airstrip. I would definitely enjoy it. Hope it is released, and please keep up the good work.

That is really beautiful. I especially like the custom hanger FBO and the figures it adds a lot of life to your airfield.

Looks like a lot of fun. Patiently awaiting release. Interested in how it works on a non-Orbx system.

Right now I have no intention of releasing. The terrain in that area in totally unlike the actual airport and I've been unsuccessful in my attempts to get it even close. Adjustments in one area cause changes in unrelated areas, it's like trying to catch smoke. Add to that every variation in slider settings for every Simmer that downloads, plus their own custom tweaks that make their scenery look entirely different from someone else using the same scenery. . .it's a nightmare. I am going to try doing a custom mesh to see if that works. I've only done a few and will have to reread the information on "How to" before beginning. My previous attempts rendered nothing usable, as in "nothing changed even after going through the trouble".

I know there are a few terrain building programs out there that I have read about that are said to be "simple to use". . .there's no such thing. So if I can't get it to look as it should it will stay on my system alone.

Ed, I would propose Terrain Sculptor dy Don Grovestine. I could not build Locker field without it. You can build your terrain in the field area using it and then automatically adapt it to the surroundings. Check it out here:

Thanks, that's one of those I referenced above, lol (simple to use). I tried it on several occasions but never could grasp the concept. I'll try a custom mesh and if it doesn't give the results I need this will get shelved for my use only. I appreciate your help, but I'm a "hands on" learner. . .I can watch someone perform a task and get it within a few tries, but just reading boring text instructions. . . .just doesn't compute.

This project has been canceled. Gone Fishing:wavey:

Ed,

Works like a charm on my system! I have Orbx installed, but not for that region. I tried the hangar and taxied all around: looks great! The windsock is not animated, is it?

:encouragement: Thank you!

Thanks a bunch Cees, glad it worked for you. You are correct, the Windsock is static. It was suggested that I use tyhe default and just scale it to fit into the tower. . .as ugly as it is when it's small. . .imagine being "twice as ugly", lol

Okay, I finally got home and did some testing.

Here are the results:

FSX-SE
I found I have a version from December 2017 still active, so I deactivated that one and activated the new beta. At first launch it placed my Vega 5 in the woods instead of at the beginning of the runway/airstrip. A reload of the sim fixed that.

Now all is looking just fine. No anomalies detected. Thumbs up!!

P3Dv4.3 + OrbX Global
I activated the scenery, shut down the sim and ran Vector.

No issues found at all. Another thumbs up!!

On both platforms I taxied around, flew around and landed using both the default trike/C172 as well as the Vega 5. No visual scenery/elevation nor performance issued detected.

All is looking great on this end

My thanks to "manfredc3, Cees and aardvark62" for giving the scenery a look. It appears that everything is in order. Just going to look over the objects closely to make sure everything looks correct, make a few adjustments and I'll upload it later today.

Right Vin, had to add the smoke, lol. I looked at the distance (driving) from my home in New Jersey to Hancock. . .it's about 3.5hrs. . .I'd enjoy the ride up there and go early enough to make breakfast just so I could see the airport first hand. Of course I don't get back to Jersey very often so not sure if that would ever actually happen, lol

Thanks Vin, I figured he had to have been a prominent figure at the airport to have a plaque in his name. Great story. . .Thanks!
