Before I expend too much effort, would there be much interest in an FSX version of the Firefly?
It won't probably have all the features of the P3Dv4 version, but it'll be more or less identical.
Also it wouldn't be before the end of October because I'm away for a bit!

Links below for the FSX product page at SimMarket and Payloadz. The latter I think only takes PayPal, but takes a smaller commission.

Great plane! There is no hook entry in the cfg?

I reduced the torque roll somewhat and made the Instrument panel a bit less dark.

And now I've got some trapping to do!

No, hard coded.

SkippyBing
October 26th, 2018, 11:39
Cees, as Yoyo says the arrestor hook points are hard coded into the model. If you want to adjust them adding the entries in the aircraft.cfg will over ride the model settings.

WarHorse47 has spotted a mistake with the gauge for the FR1 and NF1 models that means rockets and bombs aren't loading correctly. I've fixed it and am in the process of remaking the installer, the new file should be up in the next hour or so. If you can't wait the contents of the attached zip should go in the Firefly FR1/Panel folder.

In short I made a mistake.

In long, when making the 32 bit gauges I somehow copied the F1 code into the FR1 gauge and then missed it in testing as certain load outs still worked. Apologies for any inconvenience.

The new Firefly made me come back to FS after a half a year without FS flying :-)

FR.1 "281" of 827 NAS, early Korean war operations flying from HMS Triumph in 1950. Sources shows that the paint schemes used very a good mix of old and new. Also some painting and modding to make Triumph and carrier group (the destroyer force is not shown in the pics).

A really nice airplane. :encouragement: But...
I'm having a hard time trapping aboard a carrier without nosing over. Maybe I've lost my touch, but at around 80 kts at the ramp I'm not coming in too fast. Any slower and I'm in the water. Has anybody else had problems? Cees, how have you been doing? :banghead:

Hey Jerry,

I managed to get her trapped on deck. I use these settings:

[TailHook]
tailhook_length=4.000 ;(feet)
tailhook_position=-14.000, 0.000, -1.000 ;(feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions fromdatum
cable_force_adjust=1.0

The hardcoded hook had me tip over time after time.

HMS Triump with excort fleet; HMS Belfast, HMAS Bataan and one C-class destroyer.

The British carrier approach was also a bit different than the USN way, it was a curved circular approach where you kept the carrier in the left side window all the time.
