Mini update......

The landing gear brake system uses compressed air. The system is fed from two 10 liter bottles and has a total pressure of 150 Kg/cm2.There is a caveat with the landing gear brakes. Every time you use them, you are consuming air. When you press the brake pedals, the brake pads valves are opened and air from the main system enters and activates them. But, when you release the brakes pedals, the valves close and the air in the brake cylinders is released to the atmosphere, so you lose the equivalent of 1.5 to 2.0 Kg/cm2 of pressure EVERY TIME you use the landing gear brakes.
All pilots will have to manage the air supply because it can only be replenished by the ground crew.

The pneumatic system is also used for arming the cannons, winshield de-icin and activating/jettisoning the brake parachute.

That's not unlike the pneumatic system in the Mig-21, a finite supply is an understatement! That's okay, it's more of a challenge.

Hey Storm,Great to see you up and running after that terrible Hurricane :wavey::wavey:

Thanks! We're still awaiting getting our damage repaired over a month out from the storm. My PC is back up and running but with a lot of odd things going on (freeze ups and CTD's and hardware and drivers stop working) with it likely due to the moister exposure and slowly advancing corrosion. It may hold on a bit or it may suddenly go Blue Screen (from my past experiences with similar things, this is how it goes). Due to the masisve backup from booked damage repair contractors, it may be a good while before I get my damage repaired. When that does happen, I will be displaced for a bit. I am looking forward to the Mig-19. I always thought it was an interesting aircraft which will now finally be brought to life properly in a simulator.

Geez, I just wish a watered down version would come to FSX. Looks like I'll have to give DCS a try!! The finish on the skin looks fantastic and you guys were always good at getting us some overlooked birds! My faves of yours that I have are the Banshee, F-102 and Buckeye. (The Kestrel was a neat item too!)

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=66249&stc=1 I may have to get a new rig to run it. Would I just be able to get in and free roam without having to dogfight? (Not that that wouldn't be fun too!) I really like this livery on your rendition of not quite polished aluminum. Fantastic! Looks like it would go well with Randy Ball's similarly painted MiG-17PF that he flies at airshows! (I wonder if we'll ever see any civilian owned Farmers flying?)

Oh boy, I'm beginning to foam at the mouth over this one! lol! After doing my reading up on the actual aircraft, I have a feeling I will need to stay over the airfield as bad as I am an Afterburner Hog! What's the saying in the Mig-19, after 5 minutes of cumulative Afterburner use, you better be looking for a place to land. That's me!

This from one of The mission builders

"Hey guys,As I am currently building the training missions for the Farmer, I thought I’d share some of my thoughts.
First a disclaimer: I NEVER flew any of the Russian jets. I wasn’t interested. So when I was asked to do the training and build some missions, I was hesitant but thought I’d give it a try.
And as soon as I did I had what @PaulRix (https://forums.mudspike.com/u/paulrix) is describing: I fell in love with it. The cockpit and the model are stunningly done. It is massive inside, you feel like sitting in a tank (especially in the VR). It is crude and advanced at the same time, with lots of gauges and buttons. I have to say at this stage (so pre-release) nearly everything is working as intended.
So for those who love Soviet jets, you will fall in love with it. For those who don’t - you will fall in love with it. I’ll make sure to make some nice content mission - wise (probably not a campaign at this stage, but a good training and some SP / MP missions for the MiG-19). I’ll keep you posted, I will also be posting progress on the training and mission building on my Facebook Page
1 (https://www.facebook.com/balticdragonDCS).

DCS World is actually surprisingly good performance wise. With my previous PC which was running an intel 2700k and GTX 980 I was able to run VR with DCS World with very smooth and consistent performance. I never measured frames but it always seemed like it was between 30 and 60, even in huge battles with 50 aircraft and ground units etc.

It is a lot of fun to just fly around in DCS World, and even the free default aircraft are really well modelled and full featured.

"Dear all,After an extensive review of the MiG-19, we have decided to postpone its release until a few items are resolved. It’s RAZBAM’s desire to release the MiG-19 in a finished state so it will need just a little more time in the oven to meet this expectation.
Thanks,

Totally understood, better to tie up loose ends rather than release a model with any outstanding issues. Will be happy to be patient in the meantime while we wait. I know it's going to be an outstanding model.

Yes, the Cuban Air Force received a total of 12 Mig-19P's which were in service from 1961 to 1966 and were quickly replaced by the Mig-21PFM by then. There are some surviving airframes on display in Cuba and perhaps some documentation they used for the model.
