Today, I deleted my YouTube channel permanently. My reasons for doing so should be self evident.

For those who have followed my work on that platform, I thank you for your support and kind remarks.
I will continue to release video on my new channel at REAL.video. The channel is titled Virtual Cockpit and I continue to use my established handle ********.

What is the self evident thing? Did someone hack it or similar? Am I missing something?

It would be difficult for me to answer your question without violating the rules of this forum. I value this forum, and try my darnedest to sequester my opinions.

My decision was prompted by YouTube's commitment to editorial policies that I find reprehensible. I cannot, in good conscience, support that forum or any other forum who selectively ban or delete channels that they disagree with. They are a corporation, and they have the right to set rules as they see fit. I have the right not to contract with them...as I see fit.

Facebook took a massive 20% hit on share value recently, resulting from policy decisions that the shareholders apparently disagreed with. Mr. Z holds 60% of the share, but the other 40% obliged him with a rather serious haircut.
I would anticipate Google/YouTube might soon experience a similar....correction.

Sorry I can't go into more detail, but a bit of cursory research will fill in the blanks for those interested. :encouragement:

Oh... I think we're talking about the above - mentioned platforms' decision to ban a conspiracy - theory whackjob who, among other things, advocated the position that the Sandy Hook school shooting was faked and the grieving family members were actors.

Dunno why it'd be against the rules here to state facts. But I suppose if it is, someone can delete this. :encouragement:

Two of the greatest blights on the Internet, Farcebook and Twatter.

That said remember here on SOH we don't 'do' politics.

Sorry guys... I figured we were talking about the concept of dislike of censorship in general, which is understandable. It would not have occurred to me that there were political overtones here, or disagreement along political lines, which was why I wasn't understanding the dancing around the issue. I will withdraw from this thread now, apologetically and a bit taken aback.

You do not need to apologize sir, for expressing your opinion. That is precisely the point.
I may, or may not agree with your assessment of what is fact, but I will wholeheartedly defend your right to speak.

Censorship is precisely what I was addressing. It's not political. :very_drunk:

Diversity of opinion is a wonderful thing*. YouTube's editorial policies don't bother me half as much as some of the content at REAL.video. I guess this stuff needs a place to exist but sorry gman, I won't be following you over there.

*I really REALLY hope that everyone actually thinks this...

Trying to get a grip on the logic. YouTube promotes violence, soft porn, beheadings, occultism, racism, gang beatings, gang violence, rape games, vehicle fatalities, motorcycle fatalities, airplane crashes, twerks, violent language, threats against members and now overt censorship.

That doesn't bother you, but my simulation video, art, music and commentary that I offer to this community are offensive on the alternative that I have selected.

I'm running thin on self control.
I'll give all of this a second thought.

For what it's worth, I happen to think that your choice is the right one. Google/youtube are part of the Big Five and therefor they are not our friends.

This is dangerously close to politics, so I'll stop this right here and right now.

Best to close the thread and get back to flying aircraft on the computer.
