I am quite new on this side of the forum (you can mostly find me over at the OFF forum). I just wanted to share with you a few great moments I had with this hot rod.

The screenshots are taken over Crete with REX and UTX Europe (real weather downloaded). I was flying the racer Mk14 and the wartime Mk9. The video is taken with FRAPS after the engine of the racer seized (well I realised you can not run this monster Griffon at full throttle all the time). The first really bad violent turns are panic moves as I can not locate the Chania airport I took off from being under the blanket of clouds. Common sense then prevailed and I flew to the general direction of the field trimmed out until it showed and I deadsticked it in. Quite a thrilling experience it was. Great sounds also.

The Realair Spit is one of my FSX favourites too. Here's a few lightly edited screenies I made way back when.........

Yes - the Spit and A2A's P-47 prove that great aircraft can be produced without damaging FPS - i wish other producers would be more considerate to us mortals who are not quite ready to buy a new PC yet.

I do so like that RM619 edit!

I made a "Pinky" - a bit embarrassing to fly, but very nice all the same :wiggle: and of course, who wouldn't like to fly Ray Hanna's "City of Warsaw" ride?

Yes - a great plane!

Those skins are great CBris! I've seen them both in airshows in the UK in the past. Do you have them available somewhere or are they for private use only (the kinky pinky maybe...;):Banane41:)?

Yassou dimou, they will both be uploaded to wherever (Avsim is my preferred slot) asap - bet even if it is only a short thing to do, I am in the middle of moving to a new job and a new home, so there's other things on my mind.

But yes, they will go PD... I really must do an upload sesh one day - there's a few waitng on my HD

In the meantime, if anyone has a better image of the boxing boxer dog on the nose....

No need to do it urgently. If you plan to upload them, do so at your own convenience. Avsim would be great.

Hey Dimus

I too have the RealAir Spit -isn't she a beauty. I run ActveSky X and X Graphics but I am hugely impressed by your REX and UTX screenshots!

Maybe as we know each other we should hook up online and take a flight in.

You know how to contact me if this idea appeals.

Great idea Nio! I'll try to arrange something that will not contradict with the boys schedule of course :hand:. Maybe we can fly an airshow routine over Biggin Hill.;) I'll let you know soon.

I believe REX is the best FSX environment package one can get, period. UTX's best contribution for me is the accurate road and railway system that it installs, that you can actually use for navigation if you have a road map. The textures are pretty good too.

Hey Dimus

Could you post or pm me some photos of how Biggin Hill Airport looks in UTX.I currently run JF VFR Real Scenery UK vols.1-3. I assume I cannot run both.

I just wanted to compare.

No rush

I will do so when I get home this evening (Damn work laptop can not run FSX, I'll ask for an upgrade, just have to find a believable reason). I suspect yours would be better and more correct as UTX only changes the default textures and road placement. JF is photographic isn't it. However, if the actual placement of the airfield and taxiways is the same then we can still connect and each one of us will be seeing the surroundings a little differently.

Meanwhile, here is another burnt out racer over Lugano lake (I still can't manage the beast!). The damage effect is superb. I did manage to land it on the highway by the lake, wheels up. The first three are before toasting.

OK Nio, I had a really nice flight over Biggin Hill last afternoon. I also downloaded yesterdays weather, which was quite typically English, but I opted for spring season textures just to be more colourful. I think that you will also appreciate the selected skin, which is a Biggin Hill resident Spit. I was also very happy to see that the main runway has the same headings (21-03) as my home field, Tatoi in Athens, so I felt quite at home.

Check the screenies for you comparison. I'll be interested to know your results. I also attach a vid of a touch and go on the small runway 29, right through the English morning fog.

Thank you very much for the screenies and the very thoughtful and appropriate skin.

The skin is highly appropriate for me in two ways.Firstly, Kent is the county in which I now reside.Secondly the real Spirit of Kent was built at the Supermarine works at Castle Bromwich, where I was born.

Here is a link giving some history.

UTX looks very good, especially the roads.

I think we need to try and hook up and I will show you round the area online.

Thanks again

Glad you liked it. :wavey:

I have actually been to the Biggin airshow once, I think it was in 1999 or 2000. I was actually in London for training and while my course started on a Monday, I persuaded the office to find me a ticket leaving on Friday evening in order to be there Saturday morning for the show. As it turned out my luggage was lost but nonetheless I attended the show on both Saturday and Sunday and had a ball. I ended up on Sunday evening with my clothes smelling exhaust fumes (I was intentionally standing behind Sally B and the pinky Spitfire at startup, he he...). Thankfully, my luggage arrived at my hotel on Sunday evening and I appeared at work in order.

I have also driven around Kent when I was a student in 1995/96 and loved it. My then girlfriend - now wife and I share a very fond memory of our three day tour of Kent and Sussex.

I'd love to receive a tour in the air from you. Let's try.
