I am modding the excellent UH60 L from Cera Sim. I´m trying to contact them to ask for permission to share the models. Does anyone know another way to contact Cera Sim, other than the "contact us" form in their webpage?

Absolutely stunning! I'll be adding these if Cerasim approves! I can't imagine why they would not, it will only increase interest in purchasing their amazing UH-60 (I bought it the first day it was available!) to use with these worthy additions!

Another outstanding mod to the H60. The stub wing is slightly different from the standard ESSS on the vanilla UH-60/S-70 and the short version used on USN MH60s. Have you seen them MH60K DAP wings?

Yes, I have just added weapons, FLIR, tanks and so on. The base model is the UH 60 L, and the interior is unchanged

The family of helicopters based on the blackhawk is really prolific, and there are, up to my knowledge, three different models of wings. By the moment I have modelled the Seahawk and MH 60K variants. The MH60L DAP will be the next one. Of course, I will be glad to have images and suggestions.

I´m glad to announce that both Aerosoft and Cera Sim have given me permission to make and publish the mods of the Blackhawk family. My intention is to create some packs with differente variants. Jayhawks were not in my mind since they are available in the Aerosoft package, but if there are variations of the basic model (I ignore that), I could think about that. Now I need suggestions and, much better, pictures and blueprints of your ideas.

Just a small request if possible, would you put the handrails that are on the cera models (co-pilot and pilot ) on the Aerosoft jayhawk model ? If that’s even possible. I know it’s an old model but it’s the only one available (jayhawk) that s decent quality in the FS world . Just asking

Bill

This is to flewpastu: can you post or send a detailed picture of that handrails?

Victory103
May 9th, 2018, 09:23
The hand rails are behind the pilot/copilot doors and actually are FM homing antennas with a “ NO HAND HOLD” stencil. On the Seahawk/Jayhawks they are not antennas but provided a gap between the jettisonable window and floats in the sponson/fairing. Not 100% sure on Jays, but the USN removed the inaffective floats since they didn’t really work and the helo sinks quickly.

Maybe this is a stupid question but I was always under the impression that one could not modify a model without the source files ? Now I don’t pretend to know what I’m talking about because I don’t lol, but what program is used to undertake something like this . Just curious for personal reasons ,there are a lot of models out there that could use some modifications .

Great question as I wanted to do the same with adding Tacpack to my own payware models and needed help. If another modder has the same paid for model and he is only supplying me parts, not the whole model?

Aerosoft did provide a few different models in the original Seahawk/Jayhawks pack, but not all. I wanted to add the SH-60F and HH-60H and gave them a look in MCX. Is the 60F possible since Spain just recieved some used USN airframes jagl04? If they (Cera,AS) gave you permission does that mean future development of these models is over?

As a first step they will be only visuals. Tackpack will be possible only for LAU missiles and guns, in a second step, because (up to my knowledge) Hellfires and Penguins are not included in Tacpack, unless I could discover a method to do that.

I´m really interested in obtaining an acceptable model of a SH60F since, as you said, we are receiving several ex-USN ones. Probably it will be easier to create a SH60F from the blackhawk Cera Sim model than using the Seahawk by Aerosoft: it is easier to add pieces that to retire parts of the original model.

The key to mod original models is the software created by Arno Gerretsen, mdlconverterX, freely available at www.scenerydesign.org.You can use it to convert the original .mdl files to editable files as 3DS. Once you have 3DS files, you can modify them using Gmax, also freeware. There is an easier, faster method, which is to create the parts you want to add to the model with you favourite software (Sketchup, Gmax, FSDS or any other). Then you convert them to .mdl files with mdlconverterX, and then merge the original model. Creating models for tacpack is slightly more complex. You can find full intructions, weapons and files at http://www.isoliti4gatti.it/, by Corrado (sorry, I forgot his family name). Also you can find many tacpacked planes.

Thanks jagl04 I was using MCX and Corrado’s TMAP read-me to change some payware fighters to display weapons then “fire” Tacpack AI weapon simobjects. Just started and not close to your level as I wanted to make a 60F from Aerosoft 60B models, got as far as selecting object hierarchy then got scared I might mess something up! The idea of showing a Hellfire on the model and then a VRS Maverick hitting your lased target(laser designation has to be xml coded) should be the same as bombs/A2A missiles.

So your question about what folks want in terms of UH-60 variants; how about helos from units like 160th SOAR or the USAF 55th SOS? If your willing I think it would be cool to honor the work of these units and aircraft with representative simobjects:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60387&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60388&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60389&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60390&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60391&stc=1

I would have to see a reference to be sure, but I believe the MH-60 DAP has a fold away gunsight similar to what you see in the Milviz UH-1. For rocket ordnance its the sight picture, for hellfire or other guided ordnance I'm pretty sure they designate it with a laser target designator off of the gunsight and/or the sensor MFD that allows putting the beam on the target. There is in the later Nighthawks, a HMD for doing it by Mk I eyeball through the helmet visor/screen. I think this holds true for a UH-60 that is configured with guns and laser-guided missiles.

The older early “K” DAP with the ability to fire the door mounted mini guns in fixed forward used a grease pencil. I know a few guys flying in that unit, but it’s really hard to ask them a tactical question. The standard NVG HUD could have a software update, or the IHADDS from the AH-64 might be used. All others require the EO/IR sensor to designate with laser, the Hellfire and new guided rockets.

As far as "Guiding" the weapons: In Corrado's later TMAP incarnations, you can Lock a Surface/Airborne/Seaborne target with the radar and the missile will follow the Lock. I know of no way to actually "Steer" the weapons while in flight like you can with the Hellfire.

Holy Cow you are a long awaited God Send! Question for you: could you modify the rear wing of the Cera bird to add the Square profile of the Navy variant? Also most of the "MH" series have this Square wing, and even the New Build Blackhawks are receiving this wing. In addition, could you take a look at the Aerosoft HH-60 model the Port side weapons pylon is the same shape as those that carry the Hellfire missles on the SH-60B/R's. In your modeling, it looks like you have added a separate pylon above the existing one. It should be an outcropping of the short pylon that bends upward. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60799&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60800&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60801&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=60802&stc=1

And if Cerasim or Aerosoft are interested in using the mods, that´s freeware based on their models, so they can do it, of course.

Nice job moving the drop tanks on, something I have wanted for some time although years ago someone on Hovercontrol adjusted the Jayhawk to at least burn less fuel replicating more fuel onboard.

Jag104, these mods are great, do you have any plans for the Aerosoft Jayhawk for the future ? Like maybe replacing the spotlight on the starboard side of the fuselage with a fuel pod :jump: . Just asking and hoping at the same time . Thanks again for all your hard work on the mods

Now I´m quite busy with the SH60R and the Firehawk, but the Jayhawk could be the next. If your are interested in a concrete nod, please, send me good pictures of the bird

I can appreciate the request list you must have at this point but wanted to float an idea for the future.
On the center console of the Blackhawk is that ugly steel plate that looks if it could deflect small arms fire.
Would it be possible to get rid of the plate and make the area under it a new VC surface so that for
example a weather radar could be placed there or what ever else a user might find useful..?

Thanks for all you have done so far. You have certainly breathed new life into these helos.

From the interior the Pavehawk tanks are not visible.
You can see the ground shadow, but no tanks.

Thats right: I forgot to add the tanks in the interior model. The fix for tanks is for the blackhawk model, not for this Pave. I´ll try to remember to fix this in the next part

Thanks a lot, but now that is not necessary: I have had a look at Secenerydesign and this is a common problem when files are compliled many times using mdlxconverter. There is a tool (RADitor) to fix the problem, very easy to use: https://www.scenerydesign.org/raditor/. I will fix this new bug in next versions, if I have time to go on with this

Forget the gauge. I'm interested how you placed a VC surface to mount it.
Could you have removed the plate underneath it and then placed the gauge there...? Flat on the panel..?

My apologies, I was out and missed this message: they have no textures assigned, just material. If you need tho change the colour, it can be done with mdlconverter.
