Here are a selection of screenshots from a flight in the Milviz/P3D V4 P-38L, with the superb repaint done by Jan Kees, depicting the restored P-38L operated by the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum located in Granite Falls, Minnesota, which is painted in the markings of a P-38 flown by the great fighter pilot Robin Olds. It is awesome to finally be able to fly this aircraft/sim.

Robin Olds, the fighter pilot's fighter pilot. What a colorful character. To some he was an arrogant SOB. To others, myself included, he was not only a great pilot but a spiritual leader. He was the real deal. He backed up with action what he said. In other words, he walked the talk. His autobiography is an excellent book. I especially love the ending.

Thank you Jans for doing the paint. Thank you John for posting it.

I agree. When I think about the quintessential fighter pilot, General Olds pops into my head. I haven't read the book but I have seen him on Dogfights and other media, he was more than a fighter pilot, he was also an excellent aerial tactician in Vietnam. I think it was operation Bolo that he and his fellow pilots in the 8th TFW did a number on the NVAF. There is so much history there I hope it is never lost.

Read the book. Absolutely one of the best ever. I have it on mp3 and the ending is wonderful. The book relates his whole life with details on operation bolo and all the bad boy stuff he did. Really a great read.

"So what the hell, I shot anyway...and to this day, I claim to be the only pilot in the history of aerial warfare to shoot down an enemy aircraft while in the glide mode." :costumed-smiley-034 (12:15)

Badass all the way. :encouragement:

And Jankees, that is one outstanding paintjob!
