Holy greenhouse heat, that's alot of glass up front! Always thought the Hind-B was side by side, but looks like the early Hind has zero armor protection for the crew. I bought the other payware Hind years ago, yet "jeansy" does outstanding paints for the ND version.

Indeed. The HIND-A actually doesn't even have armoured glass. Wide open. The rest of the thing is plated like a bank vault, but the cockpit had nothing except a plate under the seats. I guess the 'new socialist man' was bullet-proof! The other weak spot on all the HIND's is port side, right where the big red star is. The main hydraulic reservoir is behind that, and the cooler is just under the star. Un-armoured, for some reason.

That looks really cool. Inevitably, I should ask about Tacpack enabling, but I guess the answer is no right now.

im on the fence with this one, noting that they went off line and stop providing service for 3 yrs and this and the 407 are old projects revisited, i dont have that warm and fuzzy they they will stay around again after this release, they sold ownership rights to the joint milviz/nemeth packages back to Colin late 2014

i have this feeling this is a "oh we just found these 2 sitting in a folder" and then once the 2 are released they will go back offline, and heaven forbid is you have any problems because they haven't posted on their official forum since Jan 2015, even today there are no posts regarding the hind or 407, they just recently in the past month reactivated their Facebook page after the past 2 yrs being hidden

its a very pessimistic view, but I dont trust them, it feels like a last minute opportunity to get some quick cash

there has been no official statement from them saying they will fix the outstanding problems on the other helos or 64bit upgrade which i find interesting as this adds to the short term feeling

Well, on their behalf, I can say that I just downloaded the EC 120; having lost my backups.. To my surprise, the new installer has XML gauges, and works in P3D4. I lost my hard drive, and I'm doing the re-install boogie.

I do own the 12O however i dont have it installed as its a fs2004 portover into fsx, the rest of the product range works with very few problems in 64bit with the exception of the outstanding bugs

So... Who picked up the MI24A? What are your impressions?

Posted this (in part) in the P3Dv4 forum in my own announcement thread about this model:

Update: Just tested the model for all of 5 minutes. Generally looks good, lots of carryover obviously from the old Hind in terms of gauges, sounds, etc, but the VC geometry does of course look radically different. One bug I noticed so far is that a beacon light attachpoint is not on the model (as confirmed in ModelConverterX) which means the red beacon light on the tail-spine is currently inoperative. I already sent the company an email about that, but I don't know if their customer service has improved at all. (Previously it was non-existent)

Liveries: Soviet, Vietnamese, and Algerian.
They seem to be rather glossy so hopefully someone will cut that down a bit.

Cockpit textures/labels are in English, and I don't see an option for Cyrillic yet. Not sure if that's forthcoming.

Update: For what it’s worth, Nemeth Designs responded to my support request in a personal way (not a form email) and indicated they are releasing a patch/update in the coming days to address a few issues.

Good to hear. I notified them of issues with the VOR and ADF1 gauges, and they responded quickly indicating they would look into it.

Overall, I like the MI24A, but was a little disappointed in a few things. IMHO the cost is a little high when you look at the whole package. There is only one model and three textures, compared to two models for their Mi-24V and six models for their FS9 Mi-24P. Hopefully some additional repaints down the road will up the ante.

Some day I'd like to see a military helo like the Hind with a loadout manager like Dino's Eurofighter so one can change weaponry and activate other animations like removing the crew or changing internal cabin loads. Oh, well. :adoration:

nd_ec120_fsx_v101.exe is an update, with xml gauges. Go to where you bought it and check for the updated installer. nd_ec120_fsx.exe
was my original from 2009.

yeah, i had another look about 12mths ago, it lasted 15mins, like said they just updated their fs2004 ec120 into fsx, and the textures reflect, even the paintkit is the same one for fs2004, i did a few for fs2004 however the one and only fsx paint never got uploaded

it feels like it was done for a quick buck, George's freeware helos are better in quality than the ec120

which reminds me i need to get on with the bell 206

yep, they often have gloss alphas on their mil paints,

you can open the fuse textures in dxtbmp and delete the alphas that will remove the gloss, looking at the images, there shouldnt be a need for gloss parts

they also have a very bad habit of doubling up the paint textures as the sec maps, which give it a deep automotive paint job look, if they have done that again, just grab the specs and use a paint program and add a new layer of black and set the opacity to 75% then save it, that will give you the dull flat look that combat helos have

Update is available.

The Mil Mi-24A has been updated to v1.01. The update contains minor fixes for missing lights, navigation instruments and improper animation movement.

The 120 would have been a great candidate for an improved FSX conversion, but with no sources on hand, it's a no-go and I'm not going to bother with MCX as it proves to be difficult to do the conversion using that program. However, there is still some good hope and I will consider doing a new model or buy a mesh to do a better quality native model, but I have to clear house before I can plan on new aircraft for my portfolio. I've also thought about a new 206, but the JetRanger is getting done to death, so a 206L LongRanger is being considered for my lineup.
