I saw some screenshots of the Iris F-15. So, just for grins, I installed it into PD3 V4.1. The plane loads, but there are no textures, either outside or inside. Is there some trick or work-around that I need to do in order to get it to work?

John,

I don't have this aircraft, but in general, you need
1) required texture folders in the aircraft folder
2) correct custom/livery texture folder suffix specified in the aircraft.cfg for each livery in line 'model=<suffix>'
And less obvious than these first two:
3) correct paths/fallback paths to the other texture folders in the texture.cfg file within each texture folder.

Good luck!

I have the Iris Mudhen, but I hadn't tried loading it into v4. It will load ok, but the first installer has a strange path. I recommend
installing the two parts into a dummy folder. I think you'll see then what needs to be done.

But even though it loaded ok into v4, I could only get the load manager to partially work. The fuselage ordnance would load,
but it recorded no weight, and I couldn't get any ordnance to load on the wings at all. It may be because I'm not doing it right,
but I suspect it's because the load manager is controlled by a 32 bit dll.

But both front and rear vc's did appear to be pretty much complete, no blank dials or monitors, and everything seemed to turn
on ok, although I didn't spend much time in the plane, so I'm not certain how operational everything is. I didn't bother trying to
install the updated avionics from M2M.

Not sure, is this the freeware or payware model? The freeware one seems to be an older FS9 legacy port over and you will get problems to load it into v4.
Are you seeing the aircraft, means, is there an aircraft in black, for example or is it completely transparent? If transparent, you will have no luck because of the model coding. If there are black colors, for example, you still have a wrong path to the textures placement, then you will have to do a search for the wrong placement, but this can lead to success probably.

I am not sure which version it is. Both the 'C' and 'E' models are in the list and show up in the 'Select Aircraft' list. The aircraft is invisible. Nothing shows. No VC and no aircraft in the outside views.

Rob, Fortunately, I don't need the loadout manager. I will just fly the bird clean. I will play around with it a bit and see if I can get it to work. If not, no big deal. I have aircraft that I have never flown. Maybe, I should focus on them. :)

Just for info: Milviz do F-15C for P3Dv4.
Maybe... this year! :wavey:

The F-15E Mudhen works pretty well on my P3Dv3. I've just drag and drop the files from a dummy directory to the P3D root.
Great plane, actually I can't get how to release weapons, but it doesn't matter too much :wiggle:

Pretty bird! The Mudhen is the IRIS payware (Platinum edition I assume) and a native FSX model, so no problem to bring it into most P3D versions. So the F-15 C/D of Johns topic may be the Freeware versions of IRIS F-15 which will be a FS9 basic version compiled for FSX. I tried to load most of my beloved FSX jewels into v4, a lot of them appear in the selection screen, but unfortunately I got the same issues when starting a flight - no bird, sometimes only the nav lights unfortunately.
Some weeks ago, I bought the great IRIS native FSX A-10 Thunderbolt (just Gold Edition) to bring it into my v4 and it also works fine - not built for P3D though. Means you need to have a native FSX model at least...
There were a lot of pretty models we have to relinquish so far unfortunately. It's such a shame that currently only few (freeware)designers seem to be interested in designing really needed military aircraft for P3Dv4....

Aside from having to tweak a few details to get the load manager working the Mudhen is flying without any problems in P3D4.1.
I doubt we'll ever see a proper P3D4.1 version from Iris, but I can live with this one.
A single seat 'Iggle' would be very welcome addition!

It was the old FSX C model that I had loaded. I went to the very back of my boneyard and found the Mudhen sitting there all dusty and looking forlorn . A little TLC cleaning, greasing, and an oil change put her back into the air.

FYI, as Yo Yo said, Milviz is planning on doing the F-15C for PD3 V4. It should be done after the T-38C, which is currently in Beta. However, those plans are always subject to change. So, please don't quote me on that. Just think of this as an early movie teaser.

This is the payware Platinum F-15E model you're speaking of?

Were you able to get the load manager working for the wing mounted ordnance, at least just to show the items? I could get
the manager to show the fuselage mounted items, but not the wing mounted items. I'm just wondering now if I might have
done it wrong.

The fuselage mounted items didn't add weight through the Iris load manager, but I suppose the weight might be added through
the regular v4 payload manager (I didn't bother trying).

I had forgotten how detailed the Iris Platinum Mudhen was...

Thanks - RobM

I gave up trying to use the load manager for the time being.
Life is too short!
I must have another more serious attempt at it as while I care not for ordnance I would like the extra tanks.
Not surprised that the elderly F15C didn't play nice, it was a bit rough in FS9, I must find the KBT version, I think there was an FSX port.

Not to beat a dead horse and love the thought of a Milviz level quality fast mover warbird in P3D, but that F-15C has been an ongoing WIP for years. Matter of fact, if I remember correctly, it was due to arrive before the Strike Eagle did, way back in 2012. I really hope this indeed comes to fruition this year. I for one will buy it day one. Looks like a mention of beta status in December. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Here's a link to their forum and the particular thread. Note how long it has been in development.

Seen the latest Facebook pics?

The F-15C is, as KC puts it, my baby. The reason it got delayed so long is because other more urgent projects came up that needed certain treatments that only I (out of the team) could provide at that time. In hindsight however those projects were the best thing that could have happened to the F-15C project. Every one of them brought a puzzle piece of experience and knowledge that has proved crucial for the F-15C development. Until now I wasn’t really prepared to do it justice.

Not to mention that we now have a FDE engineer who can take the flight model to DCS levels if not beyond.

I have not seen the latest FB images......care to share them? :jump:

Naruto-Kun, thanks for taking the time to personally respond. I have indeed been awaiting this beast for more than 6 years and I will be a day one pre-order (was when it was offered so many years back) or day one purchase. Please keep us updated, if possible. I would love to see what issues were matured in the process, since it's not specifically mentioned in the forum thread.

Series of posts over time showing various updates.

What matured....well...lots. Everything from knowledge about materials in 3DSMax so that non-translucent-HUD-disaster never happens again, to new styles of external lighting, by far better cockpit lighting, our ADV external flight model tech, making use of the GPU and proper CPU threading to improve framerates as well as allow for more advanced display tech, configuration managers and saved flight configurations, file systems, updates, navigation systems (the F-15C will have a genuinely modelled RLG strapdown INS that behaves just like the real thing, using exactly the same principles for alignment and navigation and not some faked drift), TACPACK integration, network programming for things like datalinks and shared cockpit, I could go on and on. The list is endless. But there is always some new piece from previous and even current projects that adds to the fidelity of this project and makes it better than it was.

Wow! A fantastic update indeed. I know some will balk at TacPack and it's integration into a flight sim such as P3D and FSX, but the theaters of engagement are only gonna get more varied, realistic and varied. This bird will indeed be great under various national skins, flying much broader areas than can be represented in other sims at the moment.

Thank you for a detailed and graphic update Naruto-kun. It's much appreciated.
