DCS F-14 Tomcat Development?

Coming off of Rick's screenshots I've been taking a hard look at the DCS world and found there is a Tomcat in development for DCS. I also noticed
the pre-purchase offer on the F/A-18 Hornet.

The Tomcat has been in development for about 3 years. Is the Pre-Purchase a common thing among DCS developers when the project gets to a certain point?

I subscribed to the developer's newsletter that is doing the Tomcat and checking the DCS forums for updates.

I'm just wondering what the common practice is when a new model or a/c is released.

I believe it is. Every one of their products had gone into pre-purchase. They never miss their release dates either. Only one aircraft has missed its released date, and that was the FW-190 by 2 days.

Thanks Rick! Although I have a bias towards the Tomcat, the DCS F-18 looks very nice and will probably get added to the DCS hangar as well.
