Hi All,

does anyone know what tools are available to place scenery within FSX SE? I used to have instant scenery for the normal FSX however it doesn't seem to work in FSX SE. Can anyone please advise what's best.

Regards
Dale

If you still have your original copy of FSX on CD you can use the SDK from that for Steam, then you can use ADE.

Have a read through of this:

Simplest solution is to download the P3D V1.4 SDK and install that - it's free to download from LM. Here:

I know of none, but it has been at least a year since I worked on the same problem without success. Judging from recent comments on the internet and a quick check of the SimForums (Flight One Support), nothing has been done to make Instant Scenery compatible with FSX-SE. Perhaps there is someone out there who has found a specific solution to this problem.

For me, being long retired and with time on my hands, I came up with a laborious work-around that involved the following:

1. Dual install of FSX and FSX_SE on separate SSD drives.
2. All add-on scenery installed on a third drive.
3. Flight 1 software including Instant Scenery installed to Local Disk Operating System (C:)
4. Scenery Config Editor (free utility for editing FSX scenery.cfg files) installed to Local Disk Operating System (C:) Program Files.
5. Install Instant Scenery to FSX and add new scenery to the drive in "2" above.
6. Set up the Scenery Config Editor to simultaneously update the FSX-SE scenery.cfg.
7. Fire up FSX-SE and see the new scenery.

Not for everyone, but I had a lot of scenery I produced with the Instant Scenery program and I was determined to continue its use.

Not 100% sure because I don't have FSX-SE, but if Instant Scenery is a no-go:

ADE has been mentioned, and there's also SbuilderX. I think it should work in combination with the aforementioned P3D V1.4 SDK tools.

DaleRFU: My Number 1 starting place would definitely be the latest version of ADE.

A Brilliantly versatile, and powerful scenery design program, very easy to add NEW models, and your own custom ground textures.
I would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to enter the amazingly creative world of scenery design.

And for people with little or no scenery design experience - the added bonus of one of the finest written user manuals I have ever read.
