Mustang questions

Anyone know where I can find diagrams showing the lettering found on the P-51D? I am close to finishing my template for the Alphasim Mustang and I want to add some detail.

Also, are the control surfaces cloth or metal?

What might help, is decals.
Search for P-51D decals, decalset or similar.

Oftern the sheets offered are scanned and of good quality. Sometimes the building instructions are scanned, too.
These should be a good guidance to place them.

If you cant read the stencils, try to do them on oyur own, you need a font type for that.

Some freeware and shareware Fonts that Jaxon mentioned can be found here. Most can be typed in from your paint program. These will have to be installed to your Windows Font files. BTW, She's looking good DC.

What I am looking for is the actual wording such as on the gun bay doors and the like. I know the wording is so small you won't be able to make it out but I want the impression of the right wording.

Hey dc67, I took Jaxon's advice and found this site...these tiny little decals that made me nuts when I use to build plastic models. :icon_lol:
At the bottom of the page is another link to right/bottom view.

Perfect find, DVSlats!

You get the idea and location of it and can write it agian, using a font.
BTW: Even when the words are small - there is a difference, if you write something, or the exact words and size them down.

Yes indeed dvslats, I did a web search and couldn't find what you found. Thanks! That is just what I have been looking for. Thanks to all of you for helping me out. This is one of the best forums I have ever been involved with and I am glad to be back.
